Hi,

I have a car on lease at the moment with my own plate on it. Vauxhall put the plate on it before it was delivered and before it goes back I have to take it off, which is all ok I thought as i've transfered it several times before, however only on privately owned vehicles.

I spoke to vauxhall leasing earlier today and they advised I can downlaod the retention form (V317) and take the plate off nice and easy. However the second question online is the V5 number which I don't have and the next question is the registered address, which I assume is vauxhalls leasing address?

Is this the correct form? Or is there a specific retention form i need instead of the privately owned car one?

Thanks,

Dan

Just ask them for the V5 details, they should scan and email / post them across to you.

Oh will they give me that information? Perfect thanks I'll give them a buzz back smile the lady I spoke too wasn't very helpful!

When I mentioned I had kernes 2 wheels and I asked what they would charge she said they would take the car back and let me know, I said what about if I can get them fixed for less, so she said to do that, I then said but what if you charge me less than I can get them for... she didn't have an answer!

I don't see why not - I asked VWFS for the V5 details for a residents parking permit, they promptly sent them over to me.

As for end of lease charges, the common advice around here is to just leave curbed alloys as the charges are nearly always much cheaper than your potential costs (I've heard figures of around £30-40 per corner).

Ask them to be sure but I when I've done it on my lease cars I just filled out the V317, left the bits I didn't know and posted it to the lease company with a cheque for retention and they done the rest.
