What to replace D5 Touring with (must have towbar)?
Discussion
I'm looking to replace my Alpina D5 Touring at some stage next year and would love to hear peoples' thoughts on suitable cars. Given we have a dog and two soon-to-be teenage kids, like roadtrip holidays, and often carry bikes around with us, it needs to have a towbar (ideally retractable), be able to fit a roofbox, and have a tailgate.
Thoughts / ideas??

RS6
E61 M5
Audi S6? Bit more subtle than the RS6 and doesn't have the widebody, still insanely fast and the V10 will be making you happy noise wise too
Porsche Macan Turbo
Audi SQ5
Volkswagen Passat R36
Mercedes E63
Mercedes C63
Mercedes ML63
Mercedes GL63
Volkswagen Touareg V10
Volvo V60 Polestar

Sophisto grey, black interior, full stripe kit. On a D5 plate (2012) with ~ 60k miles. Well-loaded with extras, including LSD. Had a £2k detailing over the summer and came up looking very nice.
Would be exceedingly interested when you are selling for sure!Lovely!!

Yeah there's one other for sale, 33k and half those miles. http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2016...
Common as muck

A Range Rover with a roofbox would need steps to access. Also, the actual rear loadspace area is tall, but not overly long if you need the seats in place for the kids.
An E Class Wagon is very large and very practical, with an integral towbar option or a number of detachable aftermarket bars available.
An E63 Wagon is a hoot, but they aren't homologated for towbars.

Cheers - some interesting ideas. No particular budget.
RS6 appeals but rare with the tow bar pack. Ditto S6 I think.
Merc estates would be interesting, but can't find any with a tow bar.
Almost bought an E61 M5 but bought a B5 instead before getting the D5 - much more usable!
Passat R - was looking at a Golf R estate but they don't do tow bars on R cars. Wonder if the same applies to the Passat.
SUVs - have to admit not generally a fan, but worth considering, although putting a roof box on and using it on the taller ones could be tricky.
Panamera - not sure the rear space is big enough for the dog (GSP - Lab sized)

If we are talking about up to £75k then we can have some stunners.RS6 appeals but rare with the tow bar pack. Ditto S6 I think.

Im not choosing SUVs beacuse I like them , they are literally the only fast things with tow bars this side of a Bentayga and 100k+ SVR's.
I do like the S6, it's a really nice car, inside its not any different to the RS6 and to drive - compared to the RS7 I felt it was just as quick. We have just picked up a Macan and inside its really nice, I've not driven it far yet though.
How about a Jaguar XF sport brake, although if your wanting new then that's out of the question. You can get a got in the Panamera but only for short trips, likewise the RSQ3, the boot is a bit small and it's only average to drive.
