Volvo V70 - a good buy?
Discussion
I'm sorry if this is the wrong forum for this but I wasn't sure whether to put it in Volvo or here.
Basically there's a V70 in a nearby city that I'm wondering about buying. It's being sold by a dealership who have a 5* rating on autotrader as a p/x "clearance" bargain. i.e. something they've had in as a p/x and now want rid of asap. It's being sold without guarantee.
It apparently drives like a dream (well, they would say that), it's got 200,000 miles on the clock, 12 month MOT, new tyres, 2004 manual 2.4L diesel estate.
At face value (obviously I'm going to go test drive it) is this a good buy for a Volvo of this age/type/year/mileage etc.
As you can probably infer, I don't know a great deal about cars, but I do know that Volvos (especially manual ones) can do a lot of miles and perhaps crucially, I won't actually be using this car much. It will be used for taking my family on probably a day out once a week - 100 mile round trip - and maybe one supermarket run a week. I will NOT be doing a lot of miles with it.
Thoughts welcome and please don't take the piss!! ;-) ;-)

They're great if you after a big, solid, reliable, comfy estate.
Enjoy driving or need to park it in town (massive turning circle needs to be experienced to be believed), they're pretty dire.
I had mine for 6 months. Functional, 100% reliable, a little thirsty (26-28mpg). Hated driving it. Fortunately they're popular so sold it for what I paid for it.

At 186000 miles my engine was showing virtually no wear when I stripped it.
Suspension bushes wear out, as does the top engine mount, but overall they are a good car.
Turning circle is quite large.
They handle surprisingly well too, and is one of the few cars I've had where the handling improves the harder the car is pushed. They initially feel soggy and stodgy but that disappears beyond a certain point and the car becomes surprisingly nimble. Considering it's size and weight.
Mind you, that's probably not important to you.
