hi all!

basically im looking to buy a car that im not too sure even exists, heres what im after hopefully you guys can help!

-up to 15k to spend maybe a tad more at a push
-i travel around 18k miles a year so needs to be 35mpg+
- im 21 only been driving for 2 years so my insurance is ridiculous at the minute so anything above 250bhp is a no go however i am after a fairly quick car so 170-250bhp range?
- big or small car im open to anything
-up to 50K miles preferably

what would you recommend and why?

thanks!

I got this last week for £13,000 brand new.

Only 137 bhp but only weighs 1 tonne

Im loving it

Why would I recommend. Well let me start by saying I'm no young lad I've had all sorts of cars and powers.

This is jap and petrol so I expect very good reliability, it has as standard

Keyless entry
Keyless start
Cruise
Aux
USB
DAB radio
SD card
Bluetooth
Sat nav
Steering wheel controls for phone / radio etc
MP3
Voice recognition.
Auto headligh

It's like driving a go cart and one of the very last N/A engine cars, I'm also finding it very conftable. Basically I like it.

However as your 21 you'll probs buy something because it can do 140 mph ( which you'll never do in it) with few creature comforts that matter in real world and no actual fun to drive.

Oh I I hope not, do your research. Good luck

surely a fiesta st ticks all the boxes probably get one new as well.

broadspeed offer a new st2 for around 16k.

13.5k for a new seat Ibiza cupra seems a bargain

Actually saw this very car at that dealership the other week, very tidy indeed!
Went over there to see the giulia quadrifoglio they had in before launch! Just my luck that the salesman has taken it to get serviced an hour earlier.
Very disappointing,

Hi markksafc

I'm actually selling a Mk2 Skoda Fabia vRS at the moment. £7,000.

I'm planning to advertise it here very soon, but at the moment I have a For Sale ad on Briskoda.net. Here is a link: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/418176-skoda-...

Fits your requirements:
- under £15k
- 35+ mpg easily achievable even with a mix of driving
- I found the insurance very reasonable
- 180bhp & DSG gearbox makes for very quick progress
- 35k miles

Contact me if you're interested. I'm around the Shropshire/Worcestshire border.

We were looking for something similar for my 21 year old son. Best car with decent comfort and power but with reasonable fuel and low insurance costs. Surprisingly c-class Mercedes and mid sized Volvos kept coming up.

I'd agree with this. They'll do 40+ mpg on a run (at 70 on a motorway, not drafting lorries), good chassis, correct wheel drive, long warranty. What's not to like?

Perhaps you're too young for this but an XC60?
Surprisingly you can get one of the recent D$ engine ones for around your budget
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2013-Volvo-XC60-2-0-D4-S...

Just a great all-round car although a hot-hatch it isn't.
