So hi there guys, I'm new to this forum, but probably I will find some help here. I am looking forward to buy a Volvo S60 in the new year. Manufactured between 2003 -2007. What do you guys say? Diesel or petrol? Manual or automatic, what to look for when viewing a car etc. I'm looking forward to hear from someone who owned/ owns one of these cars. Thanks in advance!

I needed something cheap to do lots of motorway driving in and bought an S60 D5 auto 2005 model a couple of months ago, it was a great choice for what I needed.

Cheap to buy, incredibly comfy front seats, fairly robust and not too hi-tech (no DPF). This is a 163 bhp model which my local remap chap has increased the boost on but at the same time increased cruising MPG - I did a tank to tank mileage check and its doing just under 50 mpg mixed motorway driving (and not hanging about either).

I normally drive BMW's but wanted something cheap that could soak up the miles in comfort and it does the trick, its ok to drive a bit wallowy and soft but ideal for just cruising up and down the motorway.

Look out for worn engine mounts and alternator pulley (these will give it a rough tick-over) and buy one thats had a careful owner they seem to be well looked after/well maintained my one came with a huge file of history.

The thing is that I probablz won't be doing long runs, just every once in a while but mostly short trips therefore I don't think I will need a diesel, I just don't want to ruin it. Probably a 2.0t would be the better choice for me. Anyone with information about that particular engine? Is it good/ is it bad? Mpg and such. By the way is there any option to change the computer display from mpg to l/100 km? I am from Europe and I just don't know how to swap, I usually use the internet for it.
