How much of a liability is BMW 3-series timing chain issue

I've got my eye on a 2010 BMW 320d ED for £10k with 50k miles on the clock, but I've been told to steer clear because of timing chain issues and it's really making me reconsider.

Is that a big worry or should I buy with confidence seen as it's used approved?

N47 engines 2007 through 2011 are affected - suggest try and negotiate a warranty.
