delivery milage
Discussion
I don't think there is a defined acceptable delivery miles.
That does seem a little higher than usual, but no big deal if it hasn't been thrashed. Have you checked with the dealer if it has had any rectification work done? If they've had to fix something found at PDI it might have had to travel somewhere and back before you collected.
Ask the dealer why it has so many miles on it. See if you can get some freebies out of them.
But, unless something on the car is not working then does it really matter?

I'd struggle to put an exact number on it but 170 sounds like too much.
I've had pre-registered cars with 6 miles on the clock and I'm fairly sure the last few new cars I've had have all had single digits as delivery miles.
Put it this way, 170 suggests it's been somewhere since the dealership had it off the wagon.

50 Miles max is what I would say is 'delivery mileage', if it's pre-registered or an ex-demo then anything is fair game.
I have delivered a car with 100+ miles as new but only becuase the customer wanted a specific spec/colour which was at another dealer, the customer agreed to have it driven to us to keep costs down and was happy with the mileage.

When you say "bought" do you mean you already have it on your drive, or you are looking at it and considering the purchase?

When I bought my ST earlier this year the dealer did explain that as 1 in 30 cars get an extended test my car could arrive with over 100 miles on. It arrived with 6 miles on.
This could be what happened to yours?
I would say that was a "theres a chance we might drive your car up from another dealers so be prepared for some extra miles on it".This could be what happened to yours?
I've never heard of "extended tests" on a new car.
