Suggestions for tow car to tow 2000kg
Discussion
Daily driver and tow car suggestions please 2000kg min.
Looking to change my daily driver from a Seat Leon St FR (estate) to something that can tow minimum 2000kg gross.
Very happy with the Seat but it is only rated at 1600kg tow weight and I would like to tow a trackcar and trailer. Probably around 1300kg + 700kg for trailer.
So far i have been considering Audi A6 avant or allroad, BMW 5 series touring, Skoda Octavia VRS but not 100% on tow weight on the Skoda.
Any other diesel estates that are good for towing and still offer good long distance consumption? I do mainly motorway miles and cover 20k miles a year. Would probably be looking for a 5-7 year old car around the £10-12k mark.
Any suggestions please? Hoping to stick with a touring type car but not sure if it will be big enough..

Sadly don't have space for a transporter. And it would be another vehicle to tax, mot and insure. Fleet at present is:
Porsche 944 turbo for weekend fun
BMW 325ti compact for track (currently road registered)
Seat Leon lease car my current daily driver.
Vauxhall Meriva for my wife
Can't really manage another vehicle. Was hoping to get the track car off the road to reduce the yearly tax MOT and insurance bill

An Audi Allroad is a good shout.
one of my colleagues is selling a peach at the moment as it happens, with the 2.7V6 diesel, Audi factory fitted electric drop down tow bar etc well within your budget that would be just the ticket.
Dark Grey, black leather, lovely condition.
Thanks sounds good but just doing the research at the moment. Tied into lease on the seat until July next year..one of my colleagues is selling a peach at the moment as it happens, with the 2.7V6 diesel, Audi factory fitted electric drop down tow bar etc well within your budget that would be just the ticket.

5 series touring makes a great tow car and is a nice thing to be using when no towing, very comfy on long trips ( find one with sports seats) plenty of models to chose an engine that suits your needs ( 530d makes a good all rounder).
I did 750 towing miles last weekend in my 525 with the trailer and was very impressed by how well it tows.

I'd say a Mercedes E Class with the 3.0d engine with it's extra torque & power will be more than capable of towing your weight as well as being a comfortable place to sit after some racing.
