Hit a dilemma.

Straight to it, Golf Gti 30th Edition or E90 Coupe 325i.

Two very different cars for two very different people...me. Home grown sense and wondering, go fast or go home.

I was set on the BMW but have now come back round to the VW. Both I have admired for a while and now i'm finally looking to buy a family friendly weekend car for sub £10K. There is some fear in owning a BMW...monster costs if it goes bad, but a fear the Golf will age badly (possibly the reason for a limited run version).

Thoughts appreciated.

Does look nice and not too many about (can't say I've ever seen one), so that gives it a bit of uniqueness, though having had a Clio in the past and getting seriously annoyed by dealers I've always swayed away from being a Renault owner again.

I presume you have one? I see you have recommended the RS on other threads

I`d go Golf but try to find a Pirelli edition, they`re rarer than the Edition 30 while being mechanically identical.

Dismissed this as being a Renault. But having actually seen one on the MW and read a little more I was probably a little quick in dismissing.

Think I need to find one local that I can actually see the inside off, seeing that is what I've built an opinion on.

How comparable is the inside of an RS to equal cars (Focus ST or Golf GTi)?

It's the best handling hot hatch of them all find one with the Recaros & you're onto a winner I have a mate who has one & even though I had a played with ST & all it's 5 cylinder loveliness the Megane was the better steer, don't take it to a dealer take it to a good specialist you'll get much better service & peace of mind if you do.

The Golf is a good all rounder as is the Focus ST.

If you're going to get a Megane make sure it has the cup chassis, then you get the dif. The easiest way to spot one is red brake calipers.
