Looking into the Focus RS mk3

It's never going to compare to a GT4 but for something practical you can do some track days in then it will be fun.
Build quality is the only downside (rattles) plus you might need to factor in another £1k to get the performance where it should be with a Mountune kit.
Hi Jon tks for reply.Build quality is the only downside (rattles) plus you might need to factor in another £1k to get the performance where it should be with a Mountune kit.
You're right in some respects comparing to the GT4 may be slightly pointless but equally as its at a different price point .
Just been looking into the Mountune kit which will bring the performance almost on a par with the Cayman although there had been a rumour of a 400 HP upgrade ?
Also any truth in the rumour of an RS500 limited edition car?

I'd keep the GT4 and get a Focus RS too. The former isn't going to lose you a penny and the latter is (relatively) cheap enough to be a carefree daily.
Or you could save a shed load of money and get a run out model Megane 275 Cup-S right now instead waiting 12 months for the Focus. I did just that. Picked it up last week and it is epic. Clearly not as powerful as the Focus but it is a lovely bit of kit. Fast, firm, eager, lively, grippy and it handles very well indeed. I'm smitten.I came from a 5.0l XKR and the naughty little Megane is in a different league in terms of fun and handling. Never thought I'd say this but I do not miss the extra power or torque at all (or all the luxury for that matter).

If i had a Caymen GT4 I would never sell it, the pinnacle of the NA caymen now they have turned to "nasty blown 4 pots"
My money is on these being £200k cars in the years to come
I hear you. My money is on these being £200k cars in the years to come
Porsche will sell another batch next year is the plan and going forward I'm told the plan is to keep the GT cars NA so I'm unsure about rising future values if I'm honest .
I tend to agree that the new regular models have nothing like the character of the GT4 although having driven them they are seriously good.
The other issue is that I put miles on so in Porsche world that's always going to hurt values whereas I'll be less concerned driving the wheels off the RS.
In an ideal world yes I'd have both but sadly up to my neck in other financial commitments.
Tks for all the feedback so far

Just reading about the Meganne , cracking cars seemingly but the RS power is close to the GT4 and I worry I'd miss that although take your point about the handling capabilities of the Renault . I came from a 5.0l XKR and the naughty little Megane is in a different league in terms of fun and handling. Never thought I'd say this but I do not miss the extra power or torque at all (or all the luxury for that matter).

The RS seems the complete package right now but i guess you pay for that.
PH classifieds currently loaded with GT4's for sale so I'm sure in the future i could get back into one plus i have a good relationship with my OPC .
Watched just about every YouTube RS review now !

The latest 2017MY RS has a few changes. Sync 3, option of heated seats and heated steering wheel.
Pretty sure heated seats and wheel were already an option on the 2016 mate badged as "winter pack" mate, so if that's right the only change is sync 3 - which is already shipping with cars built after late September (around 23rd on I believe).Dave Hedgehog said:
keep the GT4 and get a cheap golf R lease
I'd say that's only worth consideration if you buy it with the sole intention of tuning it and voiding the warranty (and potentially the lease agreement). In standard form I found it exceptionally disappointing, but I guess if you want something luke warm for a daily it's not a bad compromise.Edited by mrnoisy78 on Monday 17th October 23:49
