Making an offer to a dealer ?
Discussion
Just wondered on peoples thoughts re: offering £30k on a car marked up at £32k at a dealers ?
Is this below the belt ? For a bit of background there are several cars at this price point and most have seemingly sat there for a good few weeks....i am a cash buyer if it makes a difference. NB: i am well aware of if the car is good enough etc etc, just after a general feeling as to the general thoughts.

OP, you're hardly entering a long term relationship where this has massive ramifications...
"Hi I like the car up for x, but I have a budget for it of y. Is it worth me coming to your dealership with a view to buying if it all checks out?"
a) no don't bother at that price, bye for now
b) come down and see what you think, bye for now
If you pick up the phone you'd know the answer in less time than typing this post

I got £2,300 off a six week old 700 mile A4 earlier this year. Second to last day of the month and a dealer keen to deal.
Depends how much cheaper it was than a new one, bearing in mind you can get 5 or 6k off a brand new one without trying via a broker. It was £21,200. New was £27,500.
What're lead times from brokers?

No idea, dealers can search available stock if you want it quick, if not 12 weeks usually.
Are they doing £6k off the bog standard ones? This is a 1.4 SE or do you need to get into the realms of £32k to £35k which I'm guessing is the list of most A4's before they'll knock that sort of cash off.£6k discount on a newly launched £27k car seems a lot but I've never used a broker.
Sorry, should have said, its a used Aston V8 Vantage.Dont get me wrong i have no problem making an offer in fact i have done so, so far to no avail with straight "no's" . Must just be one of those cars that always sells ! I personally dont think its a terrible/hard offer because surely a dealer has a fair bit more in a 32k car than 2k ? Remember i have seen a few sitting at that price as well..
