SEAT Ibiza Cupra Black
Discussion
Hey everyone
Thinking of buying a new Ibiza Cupra Black soon as my local garage has done me a pretty competative deal after visiting them last weekend.
Unfortunately they didn't actually have an ICB in stock so me and the girlfriend ended up test driving an SE or FR, just to get a feel for the layout of the car. We've had our heart set on a VW Scirocco R for many months now.
But as my girlfriend is the one who will be driving it all the time she's not comfortable with the thought of spending so much on a car.
I've joined numerous SEAT forums but there doesn't seem to be much of a fan base for the IBC compared to the VW scirocco.
Has anyone here got a new facelift 1.8L model?
What's your thoughts on the car and is there anything you'd change?
We're looking at getting parking sensors and the ambient lights as optional extras as the sunroof seems a bit pointless to me.

Yeah they are pretty much.
We looked at a 2010 Scirocco R for around £14k. Low mileage too but needed some work doing and new tyres totaling around £700/800 on top of what ever we would buy it for. Plus it was missing a few features the newer Ibiza has as standard.
This has put the girlfriend off buying second hand unfortunately despite them generally being better value for money due to the depreciation pretty much bottoming out.
Edit:
Maybe I should hold a poll haha
New Seat Ibiza Cupra Black approx £15500 OTR
Or
2010 Scirocco R £14kish + Tyres/ Cam/ Water pump

Same car as the polo GTI surely, test drive one of those to get a feel for the engine but expect less sound proofing.
The Ibiza and polo are getting on a bit now so haggle for a good deal. Would defo go for xenons too.
I tried a pre facelift and it was good fun, not as fun as the fiesta ST though

Have you considered a lease deal on a Leon Cupra Black? At the moment they can be leased for a total cost across two years of £5500-£6000 which I imagine would be similar to the amount the Ibiza would depreciate in that time?
Here's an example;

I was looking at a Ibiza Cupra recently - and almost ordered one.
The best price i had for a black with every option except sunroof from DtD was about £15.8k - Carwow were not far behind.
But then the Leon Cupra deals came along - and with the Lease offers currently available, the Leon works out cheaper so i went down that road instead.
I liked the Ibiza, its a very quick car, and looks more interesting (to me) than the Polo GTI, and the "facelifted" interior is much higher quality than the older models. Id also recommend adding the alcantara seats, it makes a massive difference to the ambiance in the cabin.

"Same car as the polo GTI surely, test drive one of those to get a feel for the engine but expect less sound proofing."
They share the same engine. I prefer the Ibiza over the Polo though and even the golf. Scirocco wins in looks IMO
"The Ibiza and polo are getting on a bit now so haggle for a good deal. Would defo go for xenons too."
Xenon's are standard on the Cupra and Cupra Black. They're definitely worth it. I couldn't imagine buying a new car without them. My dad's BMW has halogen and they just spoil the looks completely

I haven't really looked at any of the Leon's on offer as they're a bit pricey. I'll take a look at that link later though thanks.
I'm one of those people who wants the best spec model on offer. I.e Cupra, R.
I've looked into PCP on a new Scirocco R (far too much) and on the Ibiza Cupra Black but with the advertised APR it ends up costing around the same.
I get the benefits of PCP in the fact you can hand the car back and use the equity towards a new car but it's almost an endless circle and you never really own the car unless you make the balloon payment.
The depreciation on SEATs seems pretty harsh. GFV of £7000 after 3 years on a car advertised at £21k with all the options. You basically pay that difference plus interest the way I see it :/

Pretty much the same for me. £16.5k PCP £18.5k cash on car wow.
DtD is £15.kish which is what my local dealer is offering
Appreciate the responses. Certainly livelier that other forums I've joined!

My wife has the current model Ibiza FR as her run around and she test drove the Cupra Black last week.
She thought it was much more fun and the bigger engine suited it well.Prices from our local dealer were in the same vicinity as mentioned here ( probably a bit less generous ) and the only reason she didnt say yes immediately was a poor partex price - the downside to initial discounts. Her DD is a V8 petrol Cayenne so is used to powerful cars.
I bought my son a Ibiza toca a few years ago and have been pretty impressed with all aspects of Seat ownership.
Yes the build quality isnt amazing and interiors are a bit plastic but the looks and styling still look fresh.
Am sure an ST Fiesta would be better to drive but overall think the Ibiza is a cracking car - just need to get the partex price up a bit and will order the Black.
She also wouldn't normally get the sunroof but liked the way the black in front of it matched the wheels and mirrors.

Just a quick update since my last post. We went and test drove a Cupra black last weekend.
Overall it's a nice car.
The interior is a little lacking in trim. Lots of plastic that could have been broken up a little, especially noticeable on the passenger side but its clean looking atleast.
The test drive was very short and in quite a busy and unfamiliar area so we were unable to get a proper feel for the car. The throttle response is very good, we didn't even have it in sport mode.
The only only thing that bothered me was the Aircon. It made a high pitch hissing/whistling noise as if the air wasn't being channelled correctly.
Whether or not this was just a defect in this particular vehicle is uncertain.
Has anyone here noticed this?
