Anyone ever bought a car from co part
Discussion
Hi guys
Anyone ever bought a car from co part, according to the website you can look over the car, do they hand over the keys and allow there customers to give the cars a good once over.
The car im looking at dosnt have a R sign, indicates a non runner, do they allow an attempt to start, i suppose its dangerous, the one im looking at has had front end damage.
Do they class cars with substantial damage as non runners to avoid starting them due to the associated risks ie fire etc.
Im looking at a vx http://ww2.copart.co.uk/uk/Lot/18280825?searchId=7...
anyone know much about these?
Any tips
Cheers

But this type of salvage is now so expensive! I don't understand why the prices are now so high. I have heard rumours of inflated prices due to interest by overseas buyers.
Yep, I was watching some copart auctions with a mate the other day - much more prosaic stuff than this. Probably 50% of the bids were from outside the UK, and not just EU."Inflated"? Well, clearly at least two people think it's worth that price or something close, even if you don't...
Hmm, looks like it may be a lot of superficial damage but I'm guessing they are not an easy car to fix. I would bet the electrics have been damaged hence why it's a non-runner with no mileage listed. Might be as easy as soldering two wires together or it may be a fried ECU. Budget for the latter!
Very brave repair if you don't know the VX220 very well.

Probably only worth the money if you can loose the history in the overseas paperwork!"Inflated"? Well, clearly at least two people think it's worth that price or something close, even if you don't...

Yes, some of the parts that get donated from a bent and exported RHD car may very well include the VIN plate and paperwork to ring a stolen imported LHD equivalent.
