Secondhand car price crash? (Vol. 2)
Discussion
One thing I can’t figure out about Emiras is how many are actually on the road and being used.
I never see them on the road, I see more Elise than I do Emira. Even at car events.
They all just seem to be for sale.
I think I’d really like an automatic V6 for about £45k. For me it was very much a GT car when I drive it than a sports car.

That car was reserved at £60,700 and did not sell on a trade platform at the end of March. Reckon it would have sold at that price with standard grey/black alcantara/leather and yellow stitching.

How does a naff infotainment system give 'extra feel'?
Modern cars have changed a lot in the past 20 years, by tech I mean traction control that allows some slip, electronic steering with different weights, exhausts with mapped pops and bangs, rear wheel steer, hybrid systems, BiTurbo engines, throttle mapping, different driving modes, adjustable suspension, sound pumped in the cabin, Rear-wheel bias 4WD systems...ChocolateFrog said:
I've seen 1, did look quite nice but my gut feeling is they're full of old tech when people want shiny new tech more than ever before and it doesn't have the Lotus USP to fall back on.
The only thing old tech about the Emira (apart from the V6 hydraulic steering which is really quite good....epas on the i4 not brilliant) is the drive train i.e. ancient Toyota V6 and agricultural gearbox.av185 said:

Did you get one in the end AV, how does it compare to your other sporty stuff?Venisonpie said:

Apart from the continuing iffy build electrical and paintwork issues the driving isdiosyncracies somehow make the car more appealing as a tourer. Trouble is there are many cars stuck at dealers with warranty issues waiting to be fixed.
Hope you enjoyed the Lakes despite the weather we are up there towards the end of this month hopefully for the start of summer!

Morning VP I cancelled the new i4 order the dct gearbox is fairly woeful and the engine and steering nothing special. Also rather expensive. Looks good though.

Yeah, many of the reviews of the i4 say the same about the dct. Shame as it had great potential to be a very capable car.Reckon the V6 FE manual will be the one to have when UK production stops probably next year now. Best of luck in the lakes, sadly I won't get a chance to revisit this year but will definitely give it another go next spring.
The car I sold on carwow is still for sale and in total they have reduced the price by £650. They are playing with a £1800 margin now before any overheads.
I tried selling the car for the price they have it advertised for to no avail. I quite like seeing it sit there not selling.
I sold the car at the end of May.

£1,800 is a seriously tight margin when you consider overheads I tried selling the car for the price they have it advertised for to no avail. I quite like seeing it sit there not selling.

It certainly is. They employed an agency driver to collect the car too so that’s an added cost. I have just looked at their advert pictures and they only show the service history upto 2021. I gave them the receipt for 2023 but it’s not there. Could contribute to it not shifting. Used retail prices are down 10% year on year according to AT, with only a couple more months of the nicer weather and longer evenings left we may see an acceleration of these falls just like we did last year on the wholesale side towards year end.

Trade prices have barely moved last few months and August figures just published show a very small movement for the time of year.
I suspect as we get into autumn there will be some drops and there seems to be signs of softening retail demand but at the moment very little evidence of major changes. Even EVs have stabilised in price (admittedly after a very volatile period).

Well, it looks as though my 2021 Skoda Karoq 1.5 SEL keeps increasing in value. Got a quote from Motorway 2 months ago for £17850 and it was the on 23k miles then, got an email last month saying did I still want to sell as they would now quote £18750. Roll forward to this morning and another email offering £19850 with a mileage of 25k. Hmmm, do I twist or stick?

They are not 'offering' anything themselves, the prices are just a guide. If you do want to sell, put it on there and see what offers you get, there's not commitment to accept the highest offer, great if you are a seller! Gassing Station | Car Buying | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
