To put it all into context, ask how big the warranty dept is for each car manufacturer/importer in the UK.

I think the smallest is Suzuki GB, last count there were three staff covering warranty for automotive, marine & motorcycle. Mazda are probably next.

I'm with the OP. I've had 3 Lexus and they're nothing special.

Similarly I've no idea what to get next (if I bother with a next...)

Jeez, that’s enough to put anyone off! I did a fair amount of digging before pulling the trigger and the majority was very positive.

Surely the battery inverter and hubs were covered under warranty?
Nope. The stingy Tesla 50k mile warranty is another sore point. As is the fact that despite the inverter being inside the battery and included in the cost of a new battery, it's not covered by the longer battery/powertrain warranty.

Sounds like you are overthinking it .

Failed leather ? Post pics , lots of great advice here on how to sort , “failed” is too vague .

I can’t see any manufacturers sorting it on a 65k 7 year old car.

Service costs ….that fancy dealer building & staff count has got to be paid somehow and there is more profit in servicing than car sales . Just go to an indie garage , I use a local one to me , no fancy showroom , but all know there stuff and fix/service car well .

I think the environmental and recycling regs have a large impact on car quality , you can’t just use obnoxious chemicals and materials that last longer than more enviro friendly ones .

To put it into context however, Suzuki for example don't sell many cars in the UK.

The same here, no idea where to go next. Since 2007 I've only had two Lexus and two BMW's. I basically went Lexus / BMW / Lexus and am still in my 6 year old 340i owned from new which has had no issues of note. Build quality and reliability wise there's been nothing between them.

I'm always looking (I was down my Lexus dealer yesterday) but nothing appeals for the inflated prices. A few BMW's appeal but they're mainly in luxury tax territory and I'm not going there again and yes their screen prices are cloud cuckoo land and not priced for cash buyers.

Incidentally Lexus share their forecourt with Toyota so I sat in a few and was quite impressed to be honest. I visited my Volvo dealer but got bored very quickly, our Mercedes dealer is virtually devoid of stock. Hyundai and Kia are absolutely overflowing with stock and are always busy - I might consider going EV with one of them or hybrid with Toyota but I don't think it will be back to Lexus.

No mention of a Mazda 3 saloon? Granted, they are small cars but they have a nice interior and are quite reliable with a good reputation for after sales support.
I have a Mazda 3 too and my ownership experience has been very good .

Mazda is a good shout. Upcoming Mazda CX-80 is looking good.

You might want to check out the issues with the cx60 first.

I’d consider what the Eastern Europeans go for as they often take Western European cars well used and expect them to run for mega mileages. The Passat seems to be very popular.
