I imagine something like this would make a good value runabout

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202406080...

No tax, reasonable range and can be had for £70 a month with a grand down (or a shed in PX)

I am struggling to understand how they can offer that deal. From what I can see, the reason the PCP is so low is that the residual value is so high. But how can that car only lose £1,000 in depreciation when it is two years older and has an extra 12,000 miles? So it surely must be a mistake?

It’s because it’s lost so much money already. If you look at a base VW Polo at that age and mileage it’s £12,500.

Hi all - just had this deal advertised to me for a Mazda MX-30 through Eden motor group.

£259 deposit then 48 x £259
0% finance
£7k deposit contribution
Free charger included

Can’t see how many miles it’s for but looks like a decent pseudo-lease deal. Never dealt with Eden before so some on here might have some insight

I reckon these will get even cheaper, the very low range on them means they aren’t selling.

I am tempted with this offer, I'm after a new/nearly new EV on about £200 a month in the next few weeks. The low deposit here is tempting me to go over the £200...but it's still a bit too far over the £200.

£1500 deposit and £199 a month would get me pressing the order button.

That Leaf deal seems to good to be true. I note it’s via AT broker / finance link, so not with dealer directly, wonder if there is a miscalculation somewhere?

On the topic of PCPs, FOW (fords of winsford) have a standard APR this month of 12.9%, my mate pulled out of a deal due to the excessive PCP rate.

You're right of course

Out of curiosity I got a quote (hoped it would be all online, alas not) which was wildly different from what Autotrader was showing

The error would be the assumed final value of the car. The trade price after 2 years with an extra 12,000 miles was never only going to be £1,000 below the current retail price.

I thought the same thing regarding autotrader misprice. However if you go through the link to Zuto a lot of the deals are correct

It shows me £238 with those parameters? The £2700 deposit is like doing a 12+ on PCH, so a hefty proportion.

I've been in to look at one. Works out at £13k over 3 years for a 23 plate pro performance max model which includes servicing and warranty etc. So cheaper than any lease I can find

I am hoping to pick up something new on a pcp this month but not really found any great deals. Ideally looking at a mid size SUV so x3, Q5, XC60 etc but dealers haven’t really offered anything worth biting. Hoping for some movement maybe this week for quarter end.

XC60s were probably the best offer but nothing suitable in stock anywhere at the moment with 17 week order times. There are some Q5 but APR isn’t great and the X3 are mostly 30e hybrids but the range on them isn’t great.

Might end up keeping my Kodiaq.

If they are advertising 124 miles of range what is the range really like on a freezing cold February morning? I couldn't even guarantee I'd get to drive over to my sister's and go out for a meal as the range anxiety would actually be fulfilled.

Even at £199 a month these will struggle. Only folk going for these will be for a unique number of commuters that have access.to a.home charging point and another car. Why did Mazda even bother thinking these were worth making?

It will be under 100 miles, the same is true of the electric Citroen Berlingo MPVs which is why this year Citroen have done a facelift with a far better battery set up and an option of a heat pump.

Dreadful things to live with in winter unless your a short distance driver.
