I quite like them but keep it to yourself.

I’ve put a deposit down on an approved used Skoda and the dealer has mentioned these add-ons.

Paint protection I don’t think is worth the money, I have a rotary polisher and have managed to deal with minor blemishes in the past.

Scotchbrite? Don’t think so.

GAP, I’m only intending to finance it for a few weeks to get the extra years servicing….

Alloy & tyre, I’ve crunched my current and past NSF alloys on a kerb or two, I’m comfortable enough in my own male-ness to admit that on a public forum.
Plus this will be my first car in a while with low profile tyres, so I’m wondering if this is worth it, but are there better alternatives available?

Yes, all from online third parties.

(GAP might have had a pause on it from FCA, but not sure if I am conflating it with something else)

GAP was paused but is now or soon available again from the specialists as I understand it. As said above all of the other items are either not worth it or can be obtained from other sources considerably cheaper. Years ago I was offered the Autoglym paint protection system on a new VW. Turned out the kits were £9.99 on a well known auction site!

By the way, to update the story on this 'zombie' thread - I kept the id3 for a few months and then got an offer I couldn't refuse from WBAC - then bought a new Audi A5 coupe!

Mark I was just reading my earlier comments on this. I did make myself chuckle. I’ve still got my 110 Defender 2 yrs now from new and well the EV thiing has also been explored, since June last year 17 k miles in an MG4 Trophy and replaced 3 months ago with a Smart #1 which has now done 6k miles. I absolutely love EV ownership…….with a dose of Defender. Spent most of yesterday in a dealer loaned Range Rover P550e EV range 90 miles and 550hp. It was the best of both.

Depends on how “used “ the car is but would agree with you.

Scotchbrite? Don’t think so.

Agree for the same reason - brand new “ might “ be a bit different.

GAP isn’t just for cars being financed as is the difference between what your Insurance pays out versus value / price paid.
But if you need / want it go to a specialist which would be a lot cheaper.

As far as the wheel insurance is concerned just make sure you read the t and c - I’ve seen some where actually claiming is a lot of faff.
Tyre insurance is worth thinking about but only if a stand alone policy and well priced ( cheap / good value ).

Nice to hear some EV positive comments Mike. Driving the id3 was fun but I didn't really like the design of the car externally or internally. Getting an offer for £3k more than I purchased it for two months down the line meant it was an easy decision to give it up. Loved the A5 - that was a super nice car, but after six months that had to go as the Defender 90 arrived. Enjoyed that for five months and then the Tiguan finally arrived (after two years waiting) so made the decision to go with the Tiguan as a longer term prospect. Nine months later I'm still enjoying it!
