Almost every one that comes through BCA from a trade in or WBAC is smoking, knocking, both, or seized. Loads and loads of serious engine problems and often at modest mileages.

I really want one and they're cheap but I think they need to be "walk away" money from what I've seen.
GOL

I got an early 3.2 last year and they are a spectacular package at circa £6-7k.

I think the engine bork RMS/IMS etc noise with these is overplayed. You have an understandably jaundiced view on them given that most of the ones you see are being disposed of via WBAC.

They are fantastic machines. Get one

Lowly Classic SE trim C200 CDI in Titanite Red with the OM646 2.1 diesel in 122bhp flavour and 5 speed auto 'box. Bought for tip runs and a bit of light towing.

Very little rust to be seen.

It being Friday I am diverting.

Porsche owners, what gives? It's like barge levels of masochism but on steroids.

Here's a 911 targa. We've fixed the roof but like fk are we warranting it. Also the front end got changed which defo wasn't an unrecorded accident, but it still needs painting.

£20k car. 18.5 spent last year.

Whaaaaaat?

ETA, just managing BigLips expectations hehe
Here’s mine, the fastest it’s been for the last couple of years is being towed by the landcruiser (sorry Macron it’s diesel) The 911’s oil looks like chocolate milkshake. The preferred engine rebuild guys want 11k which is only a few thousand from the total value of the car.

It now resides in my garage and I try to forget I own it.

Not given up yet still trying to sort the misfire.

Changed the spark plugs (all 24) then found in the service history they had been charged less than 1000 miles ago.
Changed the coil packs with Chinese ones off of eBay.

Changed the voltage regulator with one from the recommended chap v12ic something.

Now changing the Chinese coil packs again for some from the v12ic chap.

The old buy cheap buy twice lesson. I should know more next week I really want it to work, I’ve fallen in love with the thing.

Martynr you’re right but it’s a pretty paperweight :-)

Are all the cylinders misfiring?

Yes, I agree. A pretty ornament no doubt. Your table/desk must be massive! Something like this probably?

Why did they bother with all those sockets when no one was going to be allowed to sit on the side?

Anyway, triple thread, but who cares. Lush.

The sockets are for when they want to charge your gonads.

A worthy thread breaker - the add says chassis numbered floor mats - a beard detail, surely?

It says 5+ which means that quite a few more. It looks okay though, but I am not an old Merc fan.

The Mercedes arrived today and I put it to work straight away. Drives absolutely fantastic - the odd flare, rough change and (possibly unrelated) has the glow plug light flash on at idle for a few seconds, never to return on that journey.

I'm not doing a Readers Cars etc on it as I won't have many updates, though I may have decided she's a keeper and have bought a plate to go on... yeah I'm addicted.

I was reading an old thread about a different topic and someone said that something they thought was a misfire was actually the torque converter. May be worth checking?

What’s the longer term plan ? How does 11k compare to a replacement second hand engine from a scrapped or front end written off one ?
Nice colour, what kind, 996,997 ?
