Better trying to fix the first 5.5litre V12 as it’s ULEZ compliant.
They are both ULEZ compliant.

Not for me. I don't like the estate rear end for starters. I'd rather a 500. I'd probably rather a standard 300 or 320 without the naff wheels and tat, personally smile

Hasn't that been for sale for ages on and off? Think the owner seller has/had a similar saloon variant on the market too...?

Yep. It'll be for sale for a while at that price I reckon.

That’s pretty cool, but the mileage doesn’t justify the price, unfortunately.

I'm thinking about running something different for the summer again, I have a very very sensible Skoda Rapid but also itches to scratch. I ran an E46 320 'vert for 6 months 3 years ago and sold it on for little loss, and I'd like to do similar again this year, but with something big and thread-appropriate.
Budget has to be low enough that I could stand a total loss without being toooooo upset...

Thoughts on this?
How bad can it be at the price?

A8 4.0 diesel, £2.5k
Wrong pump, lovely seats, bit murdered out but I'd likely change the grill back to silver at least. Good MOT history except occasional worn tyres pointing to delayed maintenance style, and expected suspension bits from time to time. Just a few thousand miles a year for most of the last decade.

I've been keen to try one of the handful of V8 sooters that made it to the UK.

I'd find a different A8 to that one though, experience has told me that even the slightest touch of naff council mods means the car is a neglected heap so I don't even bother looking unless it's cheap enough to budget for lots of deferred work, or rare enough to be worth rescuiing. That's neither.

The great thing about these really big V8, V10 and V12 VAG TDi's is the potential for bonkers power/torque through a turned up to 11 remap as a last swansong.

I've always liked that A8 shape but I know nothing about them.

I think that's slightly harsh for a blacked-out grille! I can't see anything else that hints of mods, just that mirror strapped to the back headrest that says baby seat.

I think I might head down there on my day off though, they've got 2 more thread-appropriate cars:

E-class

530 touring - I do love my BMWs, and I've been missing having an estate...

Both of those would probably mean selling my boring Rapid though... but my mileage is low enough these days that it's less of a problem. Commute is 3 miles and often by ebike, and being in rural-ish Wales, anything other than very local driving involves the A48/M4 so a cruiser is no bad thing.
(Also have wife's citigo available most of the time as she WFH, and daughter's corolla shed all term time as she's at uni, so lots of choice for sensible-ish cars)

Is it me or does the A8 have a tinted windscreen? If so the owner is an absolute weapon, otherwise I wouldn't worry too much, the low yearly mileage would put me off on a diesel though.

E61 looks good, a 530i M Sport touring is always going to be a desirable and fairly rare car and you have the bonus of not having to worry about it being legislated into scrap any time soon.

The tints too. Simply speaking from experience, if it's nearby no harm in looking though.

Wrong engine etc etc but looks like a pretty honest car at a reasonable price these days. I don’t think these alloys work well with the de-chrome package personally - £2,795

Are the transmissions capable?

If an L322 is at its torque limit with the V8 diesels I'd be wanting that checked.
