Are you suggesting that someone who has sold almost 50 of his own, personal cars in the last 2 years for reasons such as "I have a company van now" and "my wife prefers the saloon version" might not be entirely genuine? hehe

That's not to say every driveway trader is dodgy. I bought from driveway traders twice, and was happy. Neither tried to hide the fact it was a side hustle. The price was keen, both were happy for me to give a very thorough inspection. I scanned every module for mileage when I got round the corner! But, both of those cars were kept for years and sold on in great condition.

^ I guess it’s not the car’s fault!

Difficult.

Check all the electrics and and soft close. Check for damp A and C pillars (sunroof cassette rot) though the dry weather won't help that test. Springs can snap but you'd never know from driving it.

Engine and gearbox are pretty robust if regularly serviced. We look forward to the forecourt shot.
Thank you. I will let the forum know how I get on!

Rob
Good luck - that’s a stunning car.

Opposite end of Friday budget - near bottom thread.
https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202406271...
RR L322 3.0 straight-six weasel.
Fails to proceed - very cursory Googling suggests battery on the way out causes Hill Descent Control (HDC) malfunction, and Air susp error.
Could be an easy fix, or an expensive world of pain. For somebody who knows a bit to take a punt on maybe ?
Not many photos, but interior doesn't look too bad. The silver door handles aren't great and the dented sill guard and rear protector need to come off.

It's a brave pill for sure but at that price...would be surprised if he hasn't tried swapping out the battery.

Hah cahoonas not big enough ! Just as much the missus reaction to bringing home (on a trailer) a broken tank to block the driveway.
You’d love to think there was a simple fix but somehow owners don’t just not bother to have tried already. Definitely one to gamble on. Would be a case of what’s it worth scrap and how much would you be tossing away versus not even bothering with it.
There are easier ways to spend, albeit bigger sums of, barge money.
Shed territory, caveat emptor …

^ nice, thanks. I went on to watch a video about running one of those. I think one way is to buy a well looked after one knowing that you WILL need to spend say £5k on servicing, and punt it once the 5k goes.

Or insert whatever sum, and see how long it lasts.

Amazing cars.

I'm guessing that the purchased list is rather sparse due to the fact that a lot of the old regulars no longer frequent this thread.
Which is a shame, because the tales of one way tickets on early morning trains and Ginsters pasties, followed by a write up of the journey home, were rather fun.

And they have these Friday cars:

And a V10 A6 Avant 43k for £17k

And the 2014 E550 for £20k

Classy and expensive.

Quite spookily that was suggested to me on my YT feed just last night. Enjoyed it.

I’d forgotten about some of the earlier iterations which are vanishingly rare nowadays through bork and very low volume in the first place.

I watched the linked video he did about the original 928 which is another car I’d love to own in the future-fantasy-garage.

To spice up the thread - I have a new car incoming tomorrow. Not a barge but will be the tender to my barge.

1. Never driven one - check
2. First one I went to look at - check
3. High potential for bork - check

Picking up tomorrow morning.

That was one of the other fun things about this thread - An announcement similar to the above would have people guessing as to what the car was -
Or at least asking for a clue...
