I don't know if you would like to add this to the tally to give it a boost? The Honda was very boring.

2023 BMW 2 Series GranCoupe M Sport (Pro Pack) DCT... F44.

I was just saying to a friend earlier that it's giving off real E46 vibes. The Harmon Kardon audio upgrade has the rearmost speakers which look very very similar to those in my 330i.

In other rather sad news. My barge fund is about be somewhat depleted due to my current daily driver now looking like this:

30-40mph impact. The back of the passenger side wheel is now roughly inline with the A pillar.

Not going to lie, the fact that the same accident in an '80s or early '90s car would have left us both with more than a couple of cracked ribs each, scares me a little.

Yeah don't see the Brabus bits add much value. Painted calipers, software for airmatic and the limiter removed.

Doesn't have distronic and the wheels should be silver.

Back to C& C listings, different vendor.

L322 very Friday budget, only excuse to post it. Nice colours and lower miles, but cloud9 ambitions.
Perhaps a decent dealer, but forecourt that must be getting on for double thread absolute tops (maybe even top thread on a good day) ?

On an entirely different topic, much knowledge here on car importing rules ?
I fancy a late(r) V70 with I6 3.0 (or 3.2?). Post '06 tax is spendy unfortunately as we all know (735).
If a vehicle is imported post 2017, is its date of first reg'n (in the UK), what is used to get into modern taxation levels ?
Yes - you have to pay a hefty 600 premium still in years 2-6 if the list price is above £40k (not sure on this, have only found a 2011 price list), even so *if* registration date is what's counted, on say a 2017 imported vehicle, we would be out of that at some point last year.
Am i being overly optimistic here ?
Is there a narrow window of a car imported in 2017/2018 to now be free of punitive tax ? I can't imagine DVSA/HMRC allowing it to be so.
There is a potential conflict here - we know customers and dealers will often wait for a plate change to creep into the next year, so manuf date can't be strictly applied; but in that case e.g. a 2017+ plate at import would apply to a vehicle that was no longer produced then (in this case, 2016).
Presumably the above example on waiting to register a car applies differently for new unregistered vehicles to imported ones.

I'm mostly certain a lot of imports, no matter their age, are in the band which is something like £335, currently.

Interesting, AT is saying they're all £710 but I've just seen one of the adverts states it's £345. I need to do some more sleuthing, I couldn't see anything that fitted this scenario on gov.uk pages when I looked.

Very glad you've both made it out largely intact, as you say stuff like that is at the back of my mind when I'm messing around in some ancient biscuit tin of a car.

Completely off topic - I've got an E34, and it seems to have lost the characteristic BMW "wax crayon" smell. I know it's in the glues used, and I personally love it - is there a way to get it back?

Can't park there sir...

Glad you are both OK, it is impressive that modern cars can crash into a proverbial (and almost literal) immovable object at such a speed and the occupants limp away with the promise of a sore neck.

Can you share the circumstances or is it something you need to resolve first?

Wax crayons under the seats on a hot day. They will melt and fuse with the carpets.

PLG classification seems to be the key :-
From HonestJohn - "The tax rate applied to an imported vehicle depends on if it has a CO2 figure on the final build type approval certificate. Assuming your car was imported from Japan, as this is outside the EU it will not have a CO2 figure applied to it, and in this case vehicles are taxed as private light goods"

Here https://www.gov.uk/vehicle-tax-rate-tables/other-v...
for vehicles 2001-2017 there are further benefits for being Euro compliant.
But how does a vehicle get a Euro classification without a recognised CO2 figure....
Also but, those figures are for LGVs, not PLGs.
The PLG page https://www.gov.uk/vehicle-tax-rate-tables/rates-f...
is only for vehicles before 2001, which seems to be where the £345 figure comes from.

There's probably a whole area on PH on this - apologies if derailing but it is relevant to bargeing - honest whistle

ETA - ah, but taxation class TC11 is PLG and applies to 'motorhomes'. Perhaps this why the PH forum on JDM cars is focused towards LPG status.

I know that's in jest but I had actually thought about making a wax crayon diffuser hehe

This is the result of a severely spheksophobic driver (me) having a wasp land in his lap and straying literally 6 inches or so, off a narrow Welsh country road in panick. I'm not even joking.

Before judging, just thought I'd add that the last time I was stung by a wasp, I swelled up, turned blue and stopped breathing. There is a reason for the phobia of the stripy little barstewards.

Suddenly, a W221 S500 replete with multiple airbags appeals more than a W126.

My daughter has the same issue with the barstewards.
Last time it was 5 Epipens, an inhaler gadget that the paramedics brought, and an ambulance trip to hospital.
You have my sympathy and usderstanding.
