@143k miles, at least that SL600 isn’t a garage queen.

Mega mileage LS600h with the reclining rear seat, for just over half thread.
Even if it only lasts a year, it’d cost the same as a years worth of PCP payments on a craptastic budget hatchback. Probably worth a few quid at the scrapyard too, it’s a heavy lump

As my LS460 just ticked over 100k miles and is essentially that car with some complexity removed I now feel warm inside.
I've probably jinxed myself, but the key differentiator between my Mercedes experience and my Lexus experience is that the Mercedes was a little more needy. The engine and gearbox were eminently reliable, and the car never failed to proceed, but it needed occasional tokens of affection in the form of repair and maintenance on the various garnishes it had. The Lexus seems less so.

Yeah I've seen and driven this car.
Its an absolutely heap that in my opinion shouldn't be on the road

Its the sort of car you'd regret spending £1500 on. It doesn't even have much value in parts either as everything is so noticeably worn out. Avoid.
Ah bks. I feel less warm now.Its an absolutely heap that in my opinion shouldn't be on the road

On the parts front, you may be surprised. I had to buy a new door and side skirt for my 460 after a bollard ran into the side whilst Mrs D was driving it, and IIRC that was about £400 from a breaker.
Obviously I've made no allowance for labour but I suspect at £3k you'd get sufficient of parts common to the 600 and 460 to make it worthwhile for a breaker. Still... Can't believe it would be up for retail in that condition.

How's your LS to run? I've seriously considered selling my really reliable and reqlly frugal mini and buying a 460 on the grounds that life is too short...My daily commute is @15 miles at 60mph on a dual carriageway plus 4/5 miles or so of roundabouts and town driving....am I bonkers thinking an LS would get 25mpg?
I do similar journeys (albeit DC at a somewhat higher speed) and it's more like 20-22MPG average, but I'm fairly certain I get 33-34 on longer runs. I run on super as mine isn't compatible with E10 (aluminium fuel pipes being the culprit IIRC). I've switched back to the manufacturer-recommended 0W20 recently so it might improve. It seems to have been run on 5W30 for much of its life. Engine seems to be slightly smoother on the thinner oil, could be placebo effect!
I've had the opportunity to drive it at 140 mph and it was surprisingly quiet and composed. Subjectively it was like driving a Focus-class car at 70mph.

Whenever I've bought a car I've always looked at the highest mileage examples to try and ascertain how much life would be left in one of lower mileage.

Which site are we all now using to get some free vehicle info? As in cat status, number of owners etc?
I was using and had recommended on here carbaba, which has now withheld all that useful info. Does anyone else still show it?
