Get it bought

For overall value, presence, pedigree and general largeness, that’s in the top 5 of this year, surely.

Alternatively, for a very Friday budget, you could have arguably the best varient of a Mercedes.

They are the sort of car that you will struggle to part with!

I know a chap who bought a late C126 in the late 90s (forgive me but I don't know which engine) and he is still daily driving it, and keeping it well up to scratch. He's got a small but admirable collection of PH worthy metal, but I think that he'll be buried in that coupe!

Love Almandine and love those cars but £21k? I am sure it's worth it but no one is going to pony up for that car no matter how nice it is.

On a lighter note, I got my invoice for the peeling paint C63 caliper refurb. I think this is the point where I have jumped the shark with regards auto maintenance.

After Pneumothorax's post, I now realise why, despite having owned a number of barges in the past, my future definitely lies in the shed thread because of cost.

2005 Nissan X Trail T30 DCI, 99k miles, cost six years ago £2,200.
2.2 diesel, fault developed was 10 to 15 violent kangarooing misfires once per journey, when engine warm.

Advice from PH and the XTrail owners forum led me to the following fix:

1. Reset the ECU/fuelling - googled it and did the required throttle pedal pushes with the ignition on. Cost: just my time.
2. Shot of diesel Redex. Cost: Bottle of Redex £6, but I have 3 out of 4 shots left for another time. so Cost £1.50.
3. From advice on another PH thread, for good measure: Tank of V Power diesel. Extra cost over standard Asda diesel £14.56, but if I get the claimed improved MPG, cost could = close to £ zero

I have done over 100 miles since the Redex, no more kangarooing and the engine is both smoother and quieter.

But I am not handing over my membership card just yet - I love seeing the cars you guys post on here.
It reminds me of my barging days, over 200,000 miles in Lexus LS400s, plus a variety of other (and unreliable) large cars.
And the wild variety of great and less great cars is wonderful to see.

A Friday fast barge, sub-£9k and limping through its MOTs, but an S63-L AMG isn’t to be sniffed at.

I like that, but would need a tender to offset the costs. Also, has a few things that would need sorting as the shocks are leaking and there was an oil leak for the last 4 years. The front tyre is damaged, but looks like a wheel is missing a chunk or two.

Mega mileage LS600h with the reclining rear seat, for just over half thread.

Even if it only lasts a year, it’d cost the same as a years worth of PCP payments on a craptastic budget hatchback. Probably worth a few quid at the scrapyard too, it’s a heavy lump biggrin

That LS600h came out of Bristol BCA. It’s utterly completely shagged out, but it runs and drives!

That does not look like a near 20yr old motor. Impressive.

Yeah I've seen and driven this car.

Its an absolutely heap that in my opinion shouldn't be on the road - The metal structure around the battery in the boot has completely corroded away, I'm talking a good 5 inch by 5 inch bit of the monocoque just missing, battery rattling around because the tie down clams have corroded and the battery itself probably is at a relatively high likelihood of just dropping out given the structural weakness of what is left of the tray.

The suspension and steering creaks and groan constantly, the air suspension does not hold air for long (think it had sunk within a day)

The drivetrain does work as did the toys I tried which is impressive but it was (and still is from the photos) filthy and very noticeably worn.

Surprised to see someone actually trying to retail it, I thought any proper trader would scrap it as imho, its duty of care level liability dangerous and is going to tarnish your reputation WHEN (not if) a judge nails you on fit for purpose when it bombs its next MOT and you make it onto a local website out lining the ruling along with a photo of a massive hole in the car but hey.

Its the sort of car you'd regret spending £1500 on. It doesn't even have much value in parts either as everything is so noticeably worn out. Avoid.

Whatever that costs, it’s a bargain.

That looks so good.
