The key take away from the video is that Porsche is overstocked with EVs and wouldn't accept trading in (the car they sold him) his EV for a 911.

So in reply to the thread title 'Porsche don't want them' lol.
I bought a new F10 M5 and never loved it, I didn’t blame the twin turbo engine when BMW ‘insulted me’ with the figure to get rid.

I can only see demand for composites increasing, too.
I think the most valuable role they can play in decarbonising the passenger car sector is for wind turbines.
The usefulness of each unit of mass and the longevity beats putting it into the cars themselves.

I would imagine he bought it expecting to like it. Have you never bought something that has failed to live up to expectations? When that happens are you not then allowed to say you don't like it?
You are allowed to say anything you like.

However, I think he should try to be logical. Constant remarks about 'milk floats' are, I think, childish.
Agree about the nonsense 'milk float' comments, that adds nothing.

Completely different to Porsche not wanting a Porsche EV back because they have too many in stock!

Yes, I was thinking of that, but also the increasing use in aviation.

Have no real opinion (or interest!) on whether that chap likes his Taycan or not - and course he should be allowed to say so.

But let's be honest - all of these guys, all of the wanabee youtubers, and the actual youtubers - get paid by people watching. And people *love* anti-EV content online. So the algorithm shoves more of it in front of people, so more gets made, and so on.

Wind back 2 years and it was "you won't BELIEVE what Mclaren said about my broken car". As always, there's of course a real point in there somewhere, but also a lot of amplification for the "likes n'subscribes"...
Yep, it's occasionally difficult to pick through the bias in what people say to get to the actual information. Some people's bias is so obvious that you end up disregarding everything they say/write as they've made it clear that they have no objectivity. The vast majority of the most prolific posters on these threads fall into that category. And that's from people that aren't earning money from their bias, unlike the Youtube lot.

Massive depreciation just seems to be a thing with Taycans in general.

I have had that with ICE cars too in fairness, suck of teeth ooooh no sir, got a glut of blah blah.

If your willfully looking for evidence to vindicate your point you will find it. EV isn't going away though - hate to tell you.

That being said the charging infrastructure does have its problems - locked in cable was a recent experience, the helpline was quick to resolve with a long wait time to get through. Figures tho since its the Scot Gov run one. That is not an experience you will have at the pumps.

Thanks, still a consideration then. Maybe looking to get a used Kia eNiro, probably a 4+ for the nice bits.

For those running a granny, how do you use it, keep topping up or running it right down, then maybe charging back up over two nights for example?
I ran an eNiro 4+ on a 3 pin cable for several months, was a great car. Charged up over the weekend and had enough to last all week. I tried to keep it above 80 miles range, just in case I had to go somewhere last minute.

What has ANY of that got to do with Porsche be overstocked with EVs to the point they wont take any back as trade ins unless you are bringing it back to swap for another EV?

I said it HAS happened to me WHEN I tried to trade an ICE CAR in the past because they were "overstocked" with specific vehicles.

That CLEAR?

100% this.

The guy is making money from these videos, no-one will watch someone praising their car with no dramas. There are a lot of people lapping this stuff up so of course he, and others can’t make the content quick enough. Read the comments section, it’s a congregation of the seriously uninformed and hard of thinking.

So you bought a NEW car from a garage and then took it back to that SAME garage to swap and they wouldn't?

and who is actually taking the hit on that?

Not joe public - 90% were bought on BIK or through the business...

the remaining 10% were all youtubers, who "can't BELIEVE how much my Taycan has lost" . so they get their money back via likes subscribes.

I guess a lot of dealers and lease companies got burned, bit weird why so much of the middle aged male internet seems so concerned about them though, eh? smile

100% happened to me with an ICE car.

Land Rover Defender 90, D250. Bought brand new 2021 from a Marshalls main dealer. Same dealer refused to buy back August 2023. In fact- 6 different main dealers refused to buy it back, until the 7th helped me out and allowed us to pay for the A110 that had been bought assuming the Defender would be an easy sell!

Too many Defenders in stock and buying freeze was the message - 6 times in a row.

At the time the used car price crash was jussst coming to life...

Well done - have a gold star, if you don't mind the second point was some balance on charging and unrelated. So I do apologise for talking from actual EXPERIENCE rather than constant hyperbole.

Which I am sure is useful to prospective buyers of EV so they can make a less HYSTERICAL decision away from the social media masses between ICE/EV choice, which everyone with a sufficient IQ can make I am sure.

I don't think you are interested in EV - as you seem to enjoy an eclectic collection of cars which whilst admirable, means you are about as far away from a demographic that's interested in EV as one can get it would appear. I respect your decision to run and old car and critic the choice of others, whilst supporting it with any evidence you can find that validates your life choices.

If you watched the first video it's obvious who is taking the hit biglaugh

The second video explains even more about the situation, since nobody on here is driving new Taycans or ending a Taycan lease I imagine it's probably irrelevant though as most on here seem to be using cheaper less premium EVs.

Yes it does. The title should say "EVs... no dealer wants them in part exchange" then it would fit better tongue out
A Youtuber bought a Taycan from Porsche, after a while decides he wants a 911 instead. Porsche will only px the Taycan for another EV and not a 911 biggrin

Just watched this video.

Where to start with criticism?

Why buy an electric car if all you are going to do is criticise it?
Buy one three years old seems to be the obvious answer.
The heater failing is Porsche's fault, not the fact that it is an electric car.
When you pull up at an electric charging point, get on with it - don't keep faffing around.

Plenty more.
The bloke is a professional thicko or his marketing schtick is to pretend to be. He has produced previous videos detailing his inability to understand very basic finance. Basically, he rented the car to make videos. When his audience wanted to be given boners being told how awesome EVs were that's what fell out of his potato face and then when his audience wanted boners from being told how bad they were he just changed the words that fell out of his vacant balloon. The world does need to concern itself over his faux trials and tribulations.

The reason Porsche are over stocked with used EVs is that they got their financing calculations wrong three years ago and Porsche want their dealers to wear the downside risk and losses from their manifest error. They thought they'd be able to screw over used buyers as they do with ICE by manipulating the supply to fudge the value up to meet the value they projected three years earlier and built their lend around.

fk 'em. Put the right number on the windscreen and the stock will go tomorrow. They're just paying the price for rigging the market against the consumer. As they all are and we should all be basking in the schadenfreude.

Going forward they've just fixed this by increasing the fake RRP number and banking the BIK saving that the consumer probably still thinks they're getting but is in fact a taxpayer subsidy to the manufacturer.

Let's just get the cheap Chinese stock in and let the Battle Royale commence. Let's get the nylon suited grifters out of their glass temples and fighting each other in the road to win some customers. biggrin

Don't disagree with that.

Surely, for us, as consumers, the answer is to find a three year old Taycan - if that is what we want - and haggle hard?
