I have an Audi A5 on lease, got it in November so just over 8 months, done around 1600 miles since.

There seems to be a whining noise from the brakes randomly when pressed, sounds like a squeal.. with the mileage and how new it is, it can’t be the brakes are wearing out.

Any advice or whether I should call the Audi Contract hire Helpline and see what they can do?

Has it happened to anyone before? I don’t have the maintenance & servicing package. Just the standard warranty that comes with a new car
Wrong thread, but just book it in at a main dealer. That’s what they do.

Spoke to a guy a Lotus Birmingham yesterday well Hockley Heath Solihull 01564 787188 he confirmed that order needed to be placed by end of this month but there is ability to spec or even leave the cars as vanilla.

Separately, been off the forum for a few years now but it’s time to jump back in to a lease vehicle. I have a quote from a BMW dealership on a X7 at 584 on a 12 + 23 at 10k per annum for a delivery by no later than end of December but I have to place order by COB 24/06. It’s a lot of car for the money both metaphorically and literally but there is something niggling me. The chap at the dealership has said all X models increase ‘significantly’ as of 01 July. Most probably dealer talk to hit targets but I was hoping a further reduction next quarter. Decision time over the weekend it would seem.

Lotus all day for me, not a BMW fan.

7 seats would come in handy but the issue is insurance on an electric motor is seemingly a lot more expensive and I need to factor in the price of installing a charging pod at home too.

I always do the first service at 13 months (normally they allow 30 days grace from due date) therefore it is not due it’s 2nd service when returned, never been an issue on my lease cars of the past.
Good idea

Could you share details of the dealer or where you got this deal? Was thinking about the eletre but an insurance check may change things.

Are you noticing it at slow speeds? I had squeaky brakes on the B9 A5 also, the dealership didn’t do much, just applied more lubrication which did nothing and it’s pretty common nowadays it seems as it was picked up on Audi forums. My current A5 doesn’t have any such noises as of now.

Unfortunately just the 1.0, hopefully no risk of excessive tyre wear though. Do 24 month leases leave you liable for the second service at 24 months or is there a common way around this? Maintenance package looks a lot more worthwhile if you have to front the second service cost..
I have a 1.0 DSG, just 2 years into a 3 year contract. Its only done 15k but the front tyres are hardly worn. I wouldn't worry about it. I got lucky with mine though as at the time, I got full maint including tyres for £9 a month. Its come in handy as the 2 services it had were both over £200 and i had a puncture which meant a replacement tyre at £92!
If it’s leased they usually get left on long life servicing - they come set to that and for non-leased customers get changed to annual services at PDI.

Is your maint contract with VWFS? I’ve seen very low costs with them before because they assume that over 3 yrs it’ll only have one service.

Yep mostly when it’s slow speed and just lightly press on the brake. Did call the dealership but they charge £140 if it’s something not covered under warranty (brake cleaning etc) which is pointless

Lotus Birmingham 01564 787188 can’t remember the name of the fella I spoke to. I enquired via Leasing.com

I checked insurance and a new quote was coming in at 5500. Spoke to admiral and to add to my current policy from 01/07 - 24/03 when my policy expires it was about 400. The guy on the phone seemingly suggested a renewal price of £1500/1600 IF everything stays the same with no change in market and risk factors. Obviously can’t quote him on that because we’re talking about a renewal in 9 months time.

Lotus insurance for me coming in 1200 a year, only 100 quid more than the 66 plate discovery sport im currently using...

so with less tax, through a business, similar insurance and sparks not oil is it the smarter choice to get in a 100k plus electric lotus over a 12k disco sport xD

Managed to snag A Cupra Leon Design edition 1 + 23 for £265.89 from Nationwide Vehicles if anyone’s interested they might have some more probably because the new shape is out soon. The price on the website has gone up massively, but worth the ask if you are interested.
Do you have any more details on this? Is this for the 1.5 engine? Do you have a contact that you went through or just the General sales line?

Vaux Astra Electric hatch is £228 on a 3+23 on leasing.com

https://leasing.com/car-leasing/search/?finance=Pe...

The estate was similarly priced but this is the first decent hatchback deal I've seen.

Seems quite good for a 40k (RRP) car

Some should have had theirs delivered as they suggested they can deliver from yesterday. I've opted to wait till mid July

Thanks for posting this.

I just signed today. 1 + 17 ,8000 miles per annum. 10p excess mile charge.
£154 a month plus VAT
£225 fee.

Run through my buisness, no BIK tax, no car tax. Effectively 80 quid a month out of my take home pay.
Won't need a service or tyres. Range works in our case.

Cheaper than bangernomics. If a electric van works for you (It does fine for us a second runaround, and the van bit will be usefull too.)
£80 because of 40% tax band?
Glad that it works out for you.
Yup, once you are in the 40% band as a business owner, it's actually 52% ish (40% income tax, 12% Employer NI). (Or Corp tax plus dividend tax which is about the same)

So makes a big incentive to get a van like this. And save into a pension.
Cheers.
