Attendance figures for Le Mans ?

Last time I heard anything it was 80,000 motorsport fans (or was it 80,000 British Fans?)

I keep banging on to the great un-initiated about Le Mans - Glastonbury for Petrol Heads, Greatest Motor Race in the World and so on, but never actually found a source for the amount of spectators by nationality.

Where do I get this info from or will anyone give a guestimate?

I seem to recall figures of 40 - 80,000 Brits in past years with 240,000 at the race?

That was in the late 80's when I was there watching the Jags giving it some welly.

Think I read that the figure was around 75,000 brits - from Autocar magazine a year of 2 back.

I remember reading 80,000 Brits with total attendance of 250,000.

Surprising isnt it. Would have thought the Brit ratio would have been a lot higher. I guess its just the campsites that have the higher Brit ratio.

i think the Brits make up the majority of the "travelling" supporters, certainly the majority in the campsites and provide most of the roadside entertainment.
