Ok so I know what I am taking as regards Food/Drink/clothes(or not!) Now I need to collect some spares 'just in case'.
What do you recommend for the list? bearing in mind that I drive a Griff and space is at a premium.

and pray you dont have a blow out. Never got on with tyre weld. Still carry it but after 2 attempts with the stuff I'm not convinced. And then finding any tyre fitters that will reuse the tyre "adding a small surcharge" - pah. Spoke to 12 local tyre fitters who all said if I used tyreweld they would have to fit a new tyre. So disposable SO2 after 3k miles. I dont think so.

Loads of people swear by it - and the fact some serious machinery has it as standard is a positive sign. ust my own personal gripes with the stuff.

Oh, and you may find that its another legal requirement in france to carry a spare.

A serpentine belt, spark plugs, radweld, headlight converters, tyre foam, jump leads, tow cable, assorted tools and a large bag of sherbert lemons.

That should get us to Dover. After that, God help us! (in his yellow AA van).

last year i made it there and back with a basic toolkit, spare wheel and a shed load of oil and coolant of which i didn't use any

and thats with 2 classic cars going!!!

...thats not strictly true, my brother topped up the oil in his MG and i didn't use any coolant... until the cylinder head blew 90km south of calais!

other than that had basic bulbs and fuses but none of these were touched, though it is a law to carry these basic parts when in france!

John, they'd be demolished before we left Surrey!. They were gorgeous though. What a wonderful place for tea. We could try and recreate the ambiance in Maison Blanche but somehow it will not quite be the same!.

Duck tape. Also useful if one of your party falls on your tent and shreds a hole in it after a few too many

ACO Membership.

It costs about €80 a year, but you get discounted entry tickets to Le Mans, you get to use the ACO clubhouse and bar and you get breakdown cover in France! What more could you want?

Taking one small ACO card and ditching all the other crap = more space for wine on the trip back
