its mid may, le mans is 1 month away... and i'm not going, no money!
but i'm trying to piece together some kind of late deal... if possible, i won't know if it is possible for another 2 weeks...
basically i was wondering if the ferry companies or train did any late booking deals, ie if i ring up le mans week and say can you squeeze me on will i have to pay full price or can i get a discount?
if i can get a discount LM may be on this year... if not then i'll probably be following it through DailySportscar!!!
the race tickets i can get when i'm there and camping i should be able to sort something out!!!
cheers for any help,
[woe] as any help given could give a couple of poor people a holiday this summer [/woe]

You could try doing a weekend special (normally pay less for two days), camp in parking general, maybe go from Ramsgate to wherever on the first ferry out on sat morning, be there by 1 or 2pm for the start, leave just before the finish on Sunday then get the last ferry back, I would imagine £70 for the crossing, maybe slightly less, and about £80 on fuel depending on where you live in the UK.
I did this one year and it wasn't too bad, got to see most of the race too.

I've just booked for £65 return at www.speedferries.com
They're a new operator doing Dover to Bologne. THere was an article on them in the Times on Sunday.

checked their site, how did you get it so cheap?
what days you travelling...?
they look good, will suggest it to likely co-pilot!!!

That was the price for the first dates I put in. Travelling out at 7:30 (ish) on the Thursday morning and returning 2 (ish) on the Monday afternoon.
From the article in the paper apparently the guy running this seacat is going to do the same for ferry's as Stelios did for flights.

put the same dates in and same leave time, but return at 18:30 on the monday and it comes up as £125!!!
why twice as much?
seems good though!
I think the way it works is the price rises as more people book and the boat gets fuller. It's the same principle as the cheap flights.
