After resigning myself to the fact i couldn't go this year due to lack of finances, I am now trying to find out the cheapest and easiest way to see the race! I have been looking on the coach tours web sites, are these a good way to go...they do seem like an awful lot of coach travel and not much else, ie. see the race and then bugger off back onto the coach. They were £135 excluding race ticket...is this good value?? I am not sure how else I can get there, dont fancy driving this year, first time like to go with people who know what they're doing then next year drive i hope. Can i have some advice please!!!!!!!

1) Whatever you do, make sure you go
2) As you're a PH-er, wheels are essential for the full-flavour experience. Do you really want to sit peering through the window of a coach at a load of petrol heads blasting by? Thought so!
3) Loads of options are available for campsites, I have enjoyed clubmotorsports.co.uk offering - a little way from the track, but decent showers/loos, half-board, and bar.
4) As has been said countless times before on the Le Mans threads, check out the earlier postings (use the Search facility)
5) Take a short-sea crossing, they're cheaper, faster, more frequent, and the French bit of the drive is longer (=more fun!)
6) Do something soon - or you could miss out, every year rumours are rife that it will be a sell-out - this year, it might just be.
7) Finally, beware - it's addictive!

If you get no joy, post a thread much nearer the time asking if anyone has any spare seats in exchange for sharing the costs, you may be surprised how many cars go single seated.

keep your eye on e-bay too. Last year me and Psychobert finally collected our "won" ferry tickets on the Sunday and our bought campsite and admission tickets on the Saturday. We left for le mans Thursday

cheers guys, i will keep close eye on these forums...so in most peoples opinions is it best to drive your own car? Is there any problems associated with driving in france, as I have never done this, seems bit daunting!! does AA cover you out there...I also speak no french at all!

I've never had a problem - until I got to a junction & looked the wrong way!
AA should cover you for 72 Hour European assistance, but do check with them first as it depends on what policy you have. Any longer than 72 hours, and you may have to pay a premium.

Also, check the RAC prices www.rac.co.uk/breakdowncover/european/get_quote?drc=BORO as they are giving online discount.

Have a great time!
