Hope this doesn't come to pass!

Edited to say that I haven't been banned (yet) as the title may suggest...

Heard on the radio this morning that it will soon be the case that you can get points on your licenses in france too

BUT
I think this means the points ONLY relate to driving in France. ie, if you get 12 points over there you cant drive in France but its OK in the UK.

Hope you are right about that - but somehow I can't imagine our government letting us get away with that...

Nope the Frenchies are looking to ensure that any fines for speeding come with points which will be given to the DVLA...so will be included on your licence in the UK.

They do this for Swiss travellers in France but want to roll out to all other local EU countries...even their best mates the Germans!!

Is there becoming less reasons to live in Europe on a weekly basis?

A this just as they're thinking of (slightly) increasing speeding fines while removing or lowering the points acrued.

Bloody marvelous...

The French are unbelievable - why we bothered to TWICE liberate these garlic-munching surrender monkeys is quite beyond me....

Well ‘Clapham’ I can’t think why you would worry about it, it’s not as if we had ourselves a little 993 convoy at 160 last summer or indeed plan to do the same again this summer to watch that jolly little race! Looks like it might be time to stop riding bare back and stump up the 350 notes for a detector?

As for the ‘cross the channel’ lot, might I suggest that large numbers of fast moving German machinery has often had a negative effect on their psyche and something they are keen to try and avoid again at all costs. Good god man the site of a couple of 9’s ought to have them off to form a Vichy government before you can say “Panzer”

They hate detectors even more than they hate speeding and will confiscate them if found

I've even heard of them spotting the circle marks on the windscreen from sucker mounts, insisting on searching the car - they found the detector, confiscated it and fined the driver 750 euros

Does anyone know if this ban affects UK driving. 2 Gendarmes hiding in a hedge with a radar resulted in a bit of re-organisation this year. Got 2 of us in one go and we both got instant bans.

Please only repsond if you are pretty certain about your answer as I have had loads of "i'm pretty sure it wont affect you" comments in Le Mans over the last few days.

Thanks,

Prop.

It doesn't yet.

We've discussed this on PH before. I think JMGS4 was an authority on the subject.
