Did anyone else see this or hear what happened or even which car it was ??? scratchchin

Whilst we were sat in the stand opposite the pits at aprox 3.45am on the Sunday morning, one of the race cars went flying past with flames coming out from the back. As it banked right at the end of the start/finish straight and momentarily disappeared from view, we waited to see it reappear near the Dunlop bridge.

Instead, it veered off left, slowly over the gravel trap towards the Dunlop stand and marshalls post before turning into a furnace. redface

It was briefly extinguished but flared up again shortly after until full control was gained by the brilliant marshalls.

I assume that the driver was busying himself, unlocking the harnesses and cleverly guiding the car to the nearest extinguishers before jumping clear but I can't find any record of the event.

Could somebody enlighten me ? smile

What happened to the Zytec Ginetta?

Saw that under covers in the paddock at the end of the race, covered in a kind of grey dust/powder. Wonder whether it was that one.

Odd you say that. I reckon it might have been that car as I remember the colour orange being prominant in my thoughts but wondered whether the flames were confusing my already alcohol filled bonce. scratchchin I wonder...
