I thought it was the norm to have fireworks. Still If it damages cars n stuff I will have to think again !
Put it this way and here's my main reason for not liking them. There are some very expensive machinery parked up on the sites. The morning after sees a fair amount of large wooden rocket launch rods laying around and on said cars, chipping/denting paint work ect. This happend to my Ferrari 3 years back. I was on the Nord site and two rocket wooden rods hit my car and chipped my O/S wings paint. I was very pissed of indeed, i never have been back to that site sinse. I an at the Tetra Rouge now, so far so good.
Trust me when i say that on bonfire night, my ferraris parked inside a brick garage. At Lemans i have no choice.
As well as the above, there are also people who angle there rockets at a very low angle. There for rockets stream along a couple of feet above people, tents and cars. Its probably the same idiots that have water pistols with piss in them, then spray inside the cars of people driving by

Bunch of Nimby's, probably sit there on 5th November muttering into your beards... Neh, fireworks, noisy things keep me awake at night....
Sorry, I agree, be safe, but Fireworks have been part of Le Mans for the past 30+ years... Wouldn't be the same without them...
I enjoy the fireworks, but sat there cringing last year wondering if one of our tents was going to go up in smoke when bits of hot firework were falling around us.Sorry, I agree, be safe, but Fireworks have been part of Le Mans for the past 30+ years... Wouldn't be the same without them...
Just be safe everyone, and try to have a little thought / respect for other peoples cars and tents

Trust me, I do appreciate people's cars are at risk, but we also drive our cars on the road where they can equally be damaged at anytime. I just think the attitude being posted above needed putting into some context, fireworks can be good fun, drinking beer can be good fun, watching race cars can be fun, I for one don't want to live in some sterile world where fun things get quashed..Trust me when i say that on bonfire night, my ferraris parked inside a brick garage. At Lemans i have no choice.

Happy Le Mans everyone, I went to N24 this year and will be missing La Sarthe badly this weekend coming..
First i was not directing my post towards anything you said, we just posted at the same time.
Secondly regarding risking our cars, if i went to the Lemans in a car that was not a £100,000 car. Then maybe i would not be so concerned, even though i would still be a little. And never will anyone see such a concentrate of exotics in one place as at the Lemans. Although it does not matter how exotic any car is, a persons pride and joy is just that, a pride and joy. No one wants there cars chipped and dented....no one.
Mate let me know when you get an exotic and i will be sure to direct rockets towards your car. then i shall use the very same explanation as you did above
;)

;)All I'll say is, aim them away from the campsites. My mate has a 2 inch scar on the back of his head from a firework stick a couple of years back hitting him inside Houx Annexe. I don't have any problem with fireworks. I've only got a problem with people failing to engage their brains when setting them off.

We're always particularly amused by the people that can't wait and let them off in daylight
Other than that, happy to sit back with a cold one and enjoy the show - it's not as if it's my money that's being burnt
Yep a few beers and it's premature explosion time..Other than that, happy to sit back with a cold one and enjoy the show - it's not as if it's my money that's being burnt
Fireworks on Friday evening, great.
But not during the day Thursday and during the day Friday, it sort of loses it's point after that...
