We're thinking of going 'upmarket' this year and getting grandstand seats. Does anyone have any opinions on which ones are the best? I thought it would be quite nice to be able to see one of the big diamond screens.

Cheers,

Neil

No diamond screens (last year) but the two new grandstands (Chapelle and La Foret) between the Dunlop bridge and Tertre Rouge give a great view of the new section from the bridge through the Esses and on to Tertre rouge.

Good value too

cheers

If you want to see one of the big screens you're choice is limited. Perhaps the best would be in one of the grandstands on the outside at Dunlop, so you can see the screen that overlooks the track from the Village. Then there's the screen in Parc Fermé, and you'd need to be in a grandstand opposite the pit exit to follow that one. There's a third screen by the Ford Chicane, but you'd have to sit in the grandstand over the pits to see it clearly.

It also depends if you want to be sitting down to watch the start and finish as well. That narrows your choice down to the last two. I suspect they'll also be your most expensive options. Are there any other screens? I didn't get out much this year!

Agree with all that
This year (well next year but you know what I mean) we'll probably be having Granstand seats for the 1st time in 6 years, going to go for the ones opposite the pits exit, and IIRC they were about £50 a seat last year.
I just hope theres as much atmosphere up in the 'posh' seats, and everyone joins in in raising the roof with the national anthem like in the free standing area

I usually try and stand in front of the grandstand opposite the pit entrance and can see this screen ok.
Not sure if it would still be visible if sitting further back in the grandstand.

When you buy grandstand seats do you get a choice of seat on booking or are they allocated?
I have been for 5 years now and keep saying " next years I'll get a seat".
(thats "seat" like chair, not the Spanish car!)

They are generally allocated. I've ordered through "Just Tickets" twice, and both times they select the actual seat, within the grandstand that I had elected. I didn't make any special requests, so I don't know if it is possible

do it once though and then make up your mind

We were opposite the pit exit, great for the start/finish but we had a seat allocated which meant the screen was virtually side on :winsomelosesome:

Next year I think we will use the pit lane entrance would be preferable. There's no telly, but there is more action on the track and it's a darned sight nearer Maison Blanche.

The first year we got tickets in the grandstand opposite the pit exit... this year we didn't bother.

That sums it up for me. Wasn't bad, just didn't feel it was worth £50 (for the amount of time we used it)

You get good views from the stands - and some of them are covered as well (from sun / lashing rain etc). On the day £50 may seem cheap! Or so may a £5 umbrella.......I'll think I'll get a stand seat again next year - just because I'd like to have the option of siting down for a bit and watch the start / finish.......you can / should wander off and see the race from elsewhere as well. You've got time as it seems to last all day.

Cheers,

Andy.
