Does anyone know how will this affect us and to what extent? Is this just busses, trains and trams etc, or will this also effect the ferry back?

First i'd heard of this. If it is supposed to be affecting the ferries there could be a lot of French strikers with sore noses...

Correct, Freddie - not transportation workers, but truck drivers - and fishermen. Was worried about this, as I have a train-ride back to the airport early on Tues morning. My parents live near Le Mans and they made some enquiries when I read the OP's warning.
Could be some snarl-ups for those heading back to the channel ports on Monday, using Autoroutes. Maybe a good opportunity to get nostalgic and use RN138.

Lets hope they don't do a comprehensive job like blockading the ports and all roads, except those with grass growing out of the middle. Paris had 200 Km of queues around it earlier this week for something similar!!
