Classic 08 petrol stops

We will be travelling down to the Classic on Thursday 10th via Cherbourg, Caen, Sees, and the A28 and will be returning on Monday 14th by the reverse route. My vehicle has a tank range of approximately 100 miles and no room for additional fuel. I've just noticed that Monday 14th is Bastille Day and have read that almost every business closes for the holiday. If this closure applies to petrol stations I will find myself in very deep kimshi on the return journey. Does anyone have information as to whether petrol stations will in fact be open or closed along this route on Monday 14th?
Any useful information will be gratefully recieved.

Bastille day is a double whammy this year. A big bank holiday and it's on a Monday when a lot of France is always shut anyway. Here at Le Mans the major supermarket pumps accept british credit cards (the 24/24 ones I mean) so no worries, but once you get out in the sticks you are going to have problems. If you fill up in Le Mans before you leave and you have a range of 100 miles then take the motorway is my advice. Fill up before you leave the motorway at Sees (the new A88 is now open half way to Falaise) which will give you enough to get to Caen which, from Le Mans is 125 miles to the port. I'm not sure about the supermarkets there but if you detour to Ouistreham port the main garage on the left as you arrive accepts british cards 24/24. You'll then have enough to make it to Cherbourg. Going the Route Nationale I wouldn't advise unless you are travelling in company who can carry a can for you.

Depends when really. I am helping out at St. Saturnin all Friday and then judging an informal concours then I have the marshals here for their annual BBQ, but earlier in the week I am OK. Saturday and Sunday I am busy on the circuit with photography. Let me know.

I expect there's some confusion here, I can't find any St Saturnin event on the web for the Classic weekend. Friday is the day when they do the car club parade laps I believe!

A senior moment - sorry. I have my rwo brain cells focusing on the 24 hour race at the moment. I shall be popping in to see Jeannine at Les Portes du Circuit yes, probably on the Friday afternoon. Saturday night as always we dine in the room over the museum so we get a grandstand view of pit straight. The rest of the time I'll be all over the place taking photos!

We will be travelling up the N138 on Monday morning too so might have to nip onto the A28 to fill up the Caterhams. Where are the filling stations on the A28, I can't find a source for the info.

I think that you'd be better off to take the A28 and fill up about 40 miles up the road before Sées then get off and take the D338 (now changed from N138). Interestingly, this service station uses the american system - you go in and hand over your card before you can fill up. See, I save you a lot of head scratching!

Wish I'd know a week or so back - had lunch with Peter Everingham. However, I'm pretty sure it is Duncan Wiltshire of Motoring Legends who is doing most of the parades. I'll find out lunch time from someone.
