Misfortune being the operative word..

Audi has got the reliability and I suspect will clean up again, with Bentley (Audi) not far behind.

It's a pity that Toyota hasn't comeback to make a challenge.

I don't think theres much chance of that! Problem just now is loads of the top names are either running really crap cars, Panoz, or just aren't there at all, Merc, Mazda, TVR, Nissan, Toyota
I think 2002 will see Audi and Bentley going for each other!! I can only see these two having the sort of reliability necessary! (I think it's something to do with them both using the same engine Can't be sure exactly) Bentley showed this year they can compete with the big boys! Hopefully MG will do well! And do I detect a sniff of a TVR team making a brief appearance

Keep an eye on M.G. in recent testing they have beaten audi's pole times for this season, And they think the car has more to come. It's just the reliability, but they done quite well last year straight out of the box.

And if any TVR is there then we can all have a or seven...

My money is still on Caddy as they have a new car for next year and one of the designers won with Mazda a few years ago. Anyone remember that?

Yup, that will be the one! A Mr Nigel Stroud who's head of design at Caddy now. I think we need to 'watch this space'

Don't for a minute doubt Audi's intentions of going for an all out win - they want three in a row so they can keep the trophy !!

They will be *very* hard to beat, although the Bentley will probably give them a run for their money.

Personally I'll be cheering for MG - there's just that little something about the cars that seems right !!

Caddy = shed

Harsh maybe, but their track record isn't exactly wonderful....

Actually yes, I would be prepared to place a wager on it.

Bottle of Champagne from the loser ?

If Audi win, I get the Champagne

If Caddy win, you get the Champagne (and I'd need a stiff drink to get over the shock !! )

If neither Audi or Caddy win then I guess all bets are off ??

Hat tricks galore! Bentley won in 1927/28/29/30, Alfa in 1931/32/33/34, Jaguar in 1955/56/57, Ford in 1966/67/68/69, Porsche 1981/82/83/84/85/86/87 and again in 1996/97/98. Whew!

MG really fired me up last year - something absolutely right about them. I would love to see them win, but I think Audi will do it again. Although I've just heard that Bentley will definitely be there, it would be bad publicity if VW let Audi's sister company take the honours. But can they rig it convincingly?

I think If VW rigged it there would be a massive public outrage!
The two teams HAVE to be allowed to get on with it!!! Otherwise it would just turn into a procession! Which wouldn't be much good!!

If VW were garunteed a win, which IMHO they are, would they really be bothered about which team took the honors as long as one of them did? Audi are pretty much gonna win anyway, there engine is in the Bentley!
Anyway, as long as the weather holds out, it should be a really good race, '01 year for me, watching at home, it was spoiled by the rain! I will be there this year and I can't bloomin wait!

Cheers
Stuart

I've got to say, although I wish it weren't so but Audi should be clear favourites to win again. Not only do they have the car and the team, but they also have the drivers - with a certain Mr Herbert rumoured to be signing for them for two races (Sebring? and Le Mans), and in the Champion car for the other ALMS races (taken from www.dailysportscar.com - well worth a look, imho).

My team is still Panoz - with some interesting developments in the engine dept. I think that Dick Barbour Racing are getting their hands on the LMP900s and putting Mugens in them!!!

My money is still (grudgingly) on Audi - proven package, better drivers, no major reliability issues in earlier races (which is where Le Mans is often lost), etc.

Personally I'd really like to see MG pull off an overall win !! But the chances of that are slim. At best.
