Well the authorities (wife) have told given me the green light to attend Le Mans 2008. Initially I intended to go to the classic, but after talking to my cousins, have decided otherwise (for next year at least)
I assume the proceedure will be
1. Find campsite and book
2. Get ferry booked (probably Dover to Boulogne - about £30 each way?)
3. Sticker up (any thoughts ideas inspiration appreciated)
4. Pack (Including mechanic
co driver - essential given car I'm travelling in 
)
5. Travel
6. Stock up at Hypermarket
7. Enjoy
Further tips appreciated, I'm sure my cousins will advise me well, but the more info the better.
PS How long roughly from Boulogne to Le Mans, it appears to be around 200 miles but no idea what roads are like.

Depends how relaxing you car is to drive and if you prefer motorways or bends.
My fast road Spitfire isn't exactly relaxing to drive - firm suspension, '70s idea of comfortable seats and the 2 hour post-drive ringing in the ears from the exhaust so I take the Portsmouth - Le Havre overnight ferry and a 150 miles hammering French B-roads with no-one else on them. Means both drive and passenger can down a few pints on the ferry too.

From where you are I would recommend Dover - Boulogne on speedferries. 60-90 quid depends when you book.
Then book now and get in Maison Blanche, Houx or TL's Tertre rouge campsite.
The price for these vary, so shop around, but do it soon.
Or just go with camping at Beausejour. This will cost circa £50 per vehicle.
General entry would be around £40 per person (available at the circuit), or get a grandstand seat opposite the pits to avoid the crowds and to keep out of the sun/rain. Worth every penny. These will cost between £130 and £150 depends which one you fancy. This price will include your general entry pass. But you will have to get most of that through an agent.
There are many ways to enjoy LeMans, but if you are alone, then it is good to belong to a group when you get there. So book with TL or beermountain or Speedchills or WR and get a little hospitality too.
