Banned - Travelling Tips
Discussion
Hi,
I was a bad boy last year on the way back from Le Mans and got done by the Gendarmeie types. They spotted me doing 110mph in an 80 mph limit. Took the car off me and banned me for driving for 21 months. I am going this year (nothing will stop me) and I will drive - any tips on what car I should take this year and what I should wear.
Porsche, Audi, Bmw or something else.
I am a father of 2 have a responsible job but am willing to risk alot by going to Le Mans in 2008. Has anyone else been banned before?

I think you are deluded, driving under a ban will mean your insurance is null and void for a start.I was a bad boy last year on the way back from Le Mans and got done by the Gendarmeie types. If you get caught then you are unlikely to be allowed to drive off. Let somebody else drive and go down in a camper.
If this is a genuine post then I am amazed, as a father of 2 that you would be willing to risk the lot....

Don't be a fool and don't drive.
We speed and don't deny it, but obviously with the risk of a fine, we are willing to take the risk. You are risking your car, the car you might hit and a guaranteed stint in a french jail as well as a fine. You might find the British plod waiting for you when you do eventually return.
Please post your travel itinary, so we can avoid it.

No one seems to have asked the question; "were you driving on a british licence and have you got it back from the authorities yet"? If your licence has been returned you are road legal, if not - tough. Usually GB licences are sent to the british embassy in Paris and then returned after about three months. What have you been doing in the UK since? Walking? I have two licences - one british and one french, the latter being used in the UK and the former in France. That way I always have a licence.I was a bad boy last year on the way back from Le Mans and got done by the Gendarmeie types. They spotted me doing 110mph in an 80 mph limit.
