Not mine but my co driver map reader has just at 9:30 pm rung me at work to say his is out of date anyone used Peterborough office for an over the counter passport

Do you still need on for france all the times I have travelled France and other countries around the French borders I have never been asked for a passport but it has been during the tour de France and it was on a coach or cycle.

If anyone lives in Peterborough is there parking near the office thanks

Paul.

Doesn't... friend of mine got stopped at Folkestone cos he forgot his passport. Wouldn't accept anything less and he had to spend the whole day sitting in the coffee shop bit while we did the beer run. And then when we got back, it took two hours to get security to run down and escort him off the premises so that he could leave with us. Trust me - spend as long as it takes in the queue either in Peterborough or London.

Hello fast westfield. I agree out of date passports you can sometimes get around but the UK customs officers (bloody jobs worths)will if given the chance stop you dead from escaping here to go and enjoy yourself abroad. But you can go to Peterborough passport office and collect a new one within a couple of hours. Go for it.

From memory to get a passport issued within a few hours you have to take your travel tickets with you to demonstrate the urgency.

We will have them as we will be calling on the way to Dover just a short detour from the A1 south.

Anyone local to the office as the Westy has no roof and all the gear in it. Any parking close or out side the office?

Paul.

The office is right in the city centre. J had to do this about 5 years ago

For more info try here

Took him most of the day to process the application with biiiiiigg queues. you cannot turn up and expect to have a passport within 1/2 hour. Get there early and expect to be there most of the day waiting.

You definitely should be able to get a passport quickly with tickets to demonstrate urgency. However, it takes a couple of days to be posted out as you don't collect it there and then (at least, this was the case in 1995).

If he doesn't manage to get a replacement on time, it depends on the port authorities & how awkward they want to be. When I stayed in the netherlands, I once forgot my passport but still managed to travel back into the UK from Oostende, & then return again from Dover. Getting out of the country was easy, & entering the UK wasn't too much bother either.

Since it depends on the port authorities, I'd be inclined to give them a call. If they know of your situation in advance, I doubt that you'd have much trouble.

Best of luck, but I'm sure that it will all work out OK, whether the passport arrives or not.

>edited to say, I didn't know about their premium service that Ace-T just gave the link for, which probably renders my post irrelevant... too slow again!

If you've not got time to get a passport just take your out of date one and say nothing. I've twice been to France with people carrying out of date passports, both times they've got away with it.

Passport control rarely check the date, usually they just give the phot a cursory glance.

Good luck.

GIVE THEM A CALL.
They now operate an appointment basis, if you call and explain you can get one in under 1 hour. Wife did this two months ago.

You can get one via personal appearance. You have to book in advance and it costs a massive amount, IIRC somewhere in the region of £80 - £90.

If you can get an appointment then take all documentation with you, birth certificate, driving licence, bank cards, dog licence () - the works.

Also important to remember that if he's changed a lot since the last photos you will need 4 new passport photots which have been "authenticated" on the back. By this I mean signed off by someone classed as a responsible person by the passport office. Examples of these include GP, justice of the peace, lawyers etc, even your humble accountant (assuming qualified and a member of a recognised UK body). Often these people are contacted by the passport office to back up their declaration, so make sure they are available.

Just hope you get someone who knows the importance of Le Mans and does their best to help you out.

You can turn up to the passport office at Petit France, London and wait. I received mine within 2 hours - there was even a nice pub I waited in as it was 'definately going to be over an hour'

theoretically you shouldnt need on should you? just some recognised ID? you can fly inland and go to Ireland without? why not France . . . .its all in the EU. If tyou cant get one, go anyway, take other decent ID, if they question it plead ignorance and be nice!
