... or be a loof, I don't care!

What you should know is that this year the French have very restrictive speeding penalties.

Anything over 108 mph will result in you "being banned for driving in France for 30 days" and licence confiscation. If you have a passenger it's not so much of a problem, but if you don't....

Just be careful. They mean business this year!

Thanks we'll keep a good lookout.. Did you mean 180mph..or 108mph I won't get to try a top speed run then.

Blimey I wouldn't know what 108 felt like in my car - things might rattle loose - it is 38 years old you know

Where does this info come from... interested to know if it is genuine or another urban myth? Is it only for french licences?

What's the source of that info. These rumours circulate every year. Why 108mph? Is that supposed to be 175kph?

I dont know what 'rules' they plan in La Sarthe but generally here anything +20kph on the posted limit will be dealt with far more seriously than last year. Comments on TV from various forces in the past months indicate that 10 - 20 over gets points+fine. 20+ over and they start looking for extras like 'use of a dangerous weapon in a public place' (dont laugh its been done before )
Or was that because it was a German tourist

This has all happened since January so expect the 'zero tolerance' approach this year.

Didnt stop a Brit in a Ferrari being flashed at 241 near Nice last Wednesday. Maybe it'll soon be appearing on ebay.fr
