When is, the "official" date to think about planning Le Mans '08?!

I was under the impression it was around mid October? Although i'm led to beleive now it maybe even earlier! I know loads of sites are already booked up but thats just silly

I'm getting excited about it already and its the end of August?! Last year was my first and despite the weather and a few downers I honestly can't wait to go again!!!!



SO. When is the "Official" time to start plannning and getting excited?

Now...you need to register your interest for tickets with one of the companies like team languistine, 1st tickets etc, this will ensure you get yourself a decent campsite and not a boggy field they stick the 'last minute dot com' crowd. Once the dates have been released you can then book channel crossing tickets, personally I use eurotunnel because you have the most flexibility for change of crossing times.

Dates for next year around June 14/15? you have to book as places go fast.I had to put name on the list when I came back this year in June.

I go with the Porsche gb club via TRAVEL DISTINATIONS pay a deposit in Nov, balance by March 08 .

Next year the Porsche entry will be there as well .

Yes seriously! The ACO take bookings a year in advance, you can hand your request to the ACO on the official form most people just copy last years and change the date! Remember to book GA tickets for each of your camping passes if you need camping passes and grandstand tickets if you want them, you can get a discount if you are an ACO member. They have an office set up just inside the main entrance tunnel, to accept requests for the following years race(except this year they would not take requests for MB 2008 as it was over booked before the 2007 race!). Most people who requested tickets have had confirmation (via email about a month ago)from the ACO that their request has been excepted and by New Year the ticket allocation with be confirmed..

With the prospect of MB being allocated pitches next year (not just zoned like this year) and Houx Annexe gone (Car park for the new football stadium) Camping passes will be at a premium, unless your on the magic list which is allegedly appears to be people who have had tickets for years and still get everything they ask for!

As for the date about 4 weeks before the Classic which is confirmed as 11-13 July (http://www.lemansclassic.com/2008/GB/index.html)

The possible date of LM is 14-15 June (with F1GPs on June 8 - Montreal, Canada June 22 -Magny-Cours, France July 6 - Silverstone, Great Britain July 20 - Hockenheim, Germany) that would be my best guess but who knows...Once the FIA have the scheduling meeting in December we will know..

We've just booked using Just Tickets again to get our Karting Nord pitches reserved. Pay a bit over the odds but at least we know what we're getting and it's all taken care of.

I went for the first time last year and loved it... No other race compares in my opinion.. just was amazing!!
I have booked a table at the hotel on the mulsanne straight last week..
all rooms there are full i think for 2008.
I am lookin into sorting my hotel/ferry etc within the next month or two....
Have to be quick for Le Mans..

What's all this talk about "booking"...and the ACO taking "bookings" the year before...

Last year was my first time. I got all confused and in a state about "booking" before hand until someone who's a regular put me straight and said you didn't need to. Just get a decent campsite away from the circuit because the ones there wouldn't be suitable....I went with a friend and my two young sons.

We camped from the Wednesday; strolled along to one of the circuit entrances on the Friday...bought the tickets for the whole event there and then (sons were free) at one of the ticket kiosks...no queueing, 'booking' or anything. We then did a bit of a 'pit walk'. Then on Saturday left our campsite (about 20 mins away)around about 6-7pm....drove to near the bottom of the Mulsanne, got lucky with a parking space on a grass verge...got out and strolled in.

I'm thinking of taking the whole family this year for the Classic. "Booking" hadn't crossed my mind.

Can someone explain?

If you want to stay on one of the ACO, track-side camp sites then you need to either book through the ACO VERY early or buy at an inflaited price from one of the motorsport tour companies (who just buy blocks of tickets from the ACO).

Also if you want a grandstand ticket you need to book those in advance.

If your camping off-site and only need general entrance tickets then you CAN book them in advance. This just saves you queueing to buy them on the gate though. If you don't mind a queue, you don't need to book.



The Classic has traditionally been much easier. Again if your camping off-site you just do it (probably easier to find camp sites/closer ones due to lower attendance). Previous years only Maison Blanche has been used for public camping (Houx is used for competitor camping, Chappel/etc used for one-make classic car parking and I don't think Houx Annex is used at all). With the changes that are going to/meant to happen before next years 24hrs who knows if this will be the same, so if you wanted to use ACO camping you would be advised to book - either that or buy a Triumph and book through the TSSC who hire a whole camp site from the ACO (traditionally Tetre Rouge).
