Just watching the Le Mans highlights again the other night and notice that when MotorsTV had their helicopter up for the finish that occasionally I spotted a massive camp site inside the track full of red tents. Was this a private club for Ferrari or something else.

It must have been a well organised and more civilised camp site as they were all in perfect alignment smile

Try staggering back in the night and getting in the right tent on the first go! They were an organised event of some tour operator.

Yeah, It was in Karting Nord.

Denmark Grand Prix Tours, who ship the Danes in by the coach load and give them a lovely one man tent each!

They never take them back with them, they just leave them for anyone who fancies one!

Anybody know what the score was in MB campsite with the white picket fenced off area to the right of the entrance that was full of the same style tents?

I heard a rumour that they were for Peugeot staff, but it was never confirmed.

Indeed, they were opposite us in KN, we reckoned about 1,000 tents, all full of grumpy, damp Danish people! Most got left behind, the local pikeys took a few, a lot ended up on some Sunday night bonfires!

Are there any UK based tour operators that do something similar?

Those pesky Danes caused quite a lot of problems on Karting Nord. I know they had a lot of people to ship in and out but on a number of occasions they blocked up the whole site with their coaches. No idea why they had to park in the middle of the road to let their punters off! The worst part was at 5pm on Sun when after waiting in a que for 2 hours to get off the site 8 or 9 of their coaches were waved into the queue to hold everyone else up by another hour or so!

Audi UK had some large encampment adjacent to Rouge parking. They weren't single person tents either. Lokked like the Montana from Outwell.

Lots of tents! More than half of them looked unused over the weekend too!

Ya not wrong, i paid them £500 to park and pitch in a muddy water drenched paddy feild. I think the fact that i feel riped is because as i was speaking to other LeMans campers who tell me they only paid less than £50 for better pitches. frownfrown

Yeah your not wrong, we had, shall we say, a heated argument with the officials as they had cordened off a big area by the road for coaches to park. They turfed us off in the end as we wanted to pitch up their (like last year) but we weren't amused to see over the course of the weekend that not even half the space they said was gonna be parked on, wasn't !! mad

The whole red tent group also seem to lack any sense of humour - oh well, their loss jester

They were opposite us across the dirt track/road. On Thursday one of our crew returned trackside to say that our generator had been turned off by them. We returned back to find the gazebo trashed by the rain/wind so got ourselves straight again and got the gene fired up. Minutes later some daft Dane decided to cover the generator with the remains of our gazebo - fire risk if ever there was one!

He complained they were trying to sleep but the argument of:

fireworks going off,
other generators,
music,
their own marquee noise,
cars doing burnouts,

didn't make any difference and we had a bit of a stand-off. In the end we moved our van to try and help them out and keep the gene in sight.

Right grumpy load of fellas! I guess the 45 hour coach journey didn't help!

I was about 20 meters from your pitch Phil (red Elise, big blue tent and a white gazebo) and our local Danes were very friendly, even offering us Irish coffee when they were making it! Sticking the remanats of the gazebo over the genny is beyond stupid though.

We were walking back past the Danes one night, must have been Thursday and heard a whole lot of jeering and shouting coming from the tent at Sud Entree. We poked our head as far through as they would let us and saw bar girls dancing up on the tables. They came organised!

Pic of the tents at 7am on sunday on the way back from the camp

We were at airtrack, admit the camping was dire, but worth every penny for the bar smile
