It has been suggested that the French petrol is a lower octain rating 94/95ish is this true or can you buy super that is like are normal petrol.

Their pumps are marked '95' and '98' (even the crappiest little 2 pump village gas station seems to sell '98'), Lord knows if a French '95' equals a British '95', I would have thought they are to the same Euro standard.

Don't Forget that the pump marked 'Super' is in fact 4*

As Guy says, the French Octane levels are 95 and 98. I believe that UK levels are 95 and 97 so in fact the French levels are higher.

And of course petrol is also cheaper over there!!!
