PRELIMINARY PRACTICE FOR THE LE MANS 24 HOUR RACE
Discussion
I'm going.
All the race entries (including reserves) will be there, also (I believe) the rules on drivers are stricter this year so all novices have to put in 10 laps during the day to be allowed in the main race, which could be a problem if a car has a problem (eg. MG and Morgan over the last couple of years).

Just back from Lemon but I only attended the morning session.
The Bentleys are extremely fast and one of them had done the fastest lap this morning. They even feel significantly quicker than the Audis and I would not be surprised if they won this year
The GTS/GT grid is quite interesting, thanks to the presence of both very fast Pagani Zonda and Spyker. The three Ferrari 550 are impressive.
Unsurprisingly both TVRs are well off the pace - they were being overtaken by just about everything in the pit straight.
However they feel very solid and do not seem to have suffered from any major trouble (as far as I have heard). Red flag was on during ten minutes because something happened to one of them, but I could not tell what.

Is it possible that being 20 & 30 seconds behind the lead GT class car the TVR's may not make it to the race proper ? Is there a set percentage they are not allowed behind the lead car during qualifying ?
Hopefully thay will go away and get some serious extra pace from the cars otherwise it will be embarassing.

Where have you all been ? I spent the saturday afternoon and the sunday morning in the DeWalt pit garage until I got kicked out by some ambarrassed ACO staff for not having a ticket Congratulations to the DeWalt crew for pre-qualifying both TVRs. That was the job of the day and they have done it.

TVR n° 92 broke its gearbox and TVR n° 91 had to have its engined replaced
Hope they fix the gremlins -- 10 seconds a lap off the PK porsche -- I'm hoping the Sebring result wasn't a fluke, to finish 7th in class is a top effort ... really don't need another 20 minute special from the next TVR assault on Le Mans.....

I know nothing about a gearbox problem but the engine swap (I read this on DSC) must have been shortly after I was thrown out by the ACO staff, bastards (the ACO that is). I saw John Ravenscroft taking a look at the no 92 car and they had the bonnet off but it didn't look serious because the crew seemed relaxed (hopefully, I didn't get it all wrong). Still, there is one positive aspect in it after all. They trained an engine change at LM. Sorry if that sounds sarcastic now (that's not intended) but they now know what to do when it gets serious. Anyway, it looks like they didn't drive too much after the lunch break (if at all, I must have been near Paris by then). So, they must be very confident to be in it. I have my fingers crossed, wish them the very best and will be one of those cheering their soul out for them in June. And of course I have to thank them for letting me stay with them this weekend, thank you very much to all at DeWalt.
