For those resident pyromaniacs amongst you, who like the cocktail of beer and fireworks in a campsite at Le Mans, where do you get your fireworks from and how much do you spend ?

Whats it like for the cars around the tents with the fireworks? I know i wouldn't be best pleased if a couple of rockets land on my car! (or are they small and tend not to do any damage)

The fireworks set off around the campsites are not small!!! It just seems to be a case of who can let off the biggest rockets with the loudest explosions....ALL NIGHT!!! I haven't heard any cases of cars or tents being damaged as a result, but they still get on my nadgers.

We get our fireworks from a wholesaler in Lewes, East Sussex just off the road out of Ringmer.

Our groupl normally spends just over £600 for the weekend.

That said, we usually let them off in one big hit on the Sunday night!!! Last year we let them off on Friday at the Houx Annexe roundabout - away (ish) from the cars.

(I've never had any firework damage my car!)

There was 2 incidents last year, both involving marine distress flares .. one burnt down a tent, the other almost set alight the grass outside Mason Blanche main gate.

Last year, we spent £200 on fireworks, the year before, £400. This year.... £50

The fireworks do look lovely and sound good, however I don't want them landing on my tent! Actually shows that taking an extinguisher is a good idea!

Well I have so far , having said that never taken the same tent twice to Le Mans as usually upgrade it. However think that the cueent one will actually do for a few more years! After 2001 I bought a large tall tent so I can stand up in it. Got fed up with crawling into a tent in the pouring rain!

Thats the advantage of an Impreza, plenty of luggage space for drink and tent!

I've been converted to the semi-luxury of a caravan & truck as support wagon. I still prefer sleeping in me tent though. Having the bog & shower so close is a major plus point.
The downside is lugging the fg thing....
The best fireworks I've seen was 2000, the caterfield guys laid on a professional display...IIRC they paid for the guys to come out & set up these HUGE mortars, about 40ft behind us...that was loud !

My dad has a firework shop and there are some real issues involved in taking them on a ferry or in the tunnel. Guess it doesn't stop people though.
