Can anyone assist or even suggest where Taxi's can be obtained from?

Going into the Square on the Friday night and to save the hassle of nominating or drawing short straws for a driver, we hope to plan to Catch a cab, or even a bus.

Not sure what route to look or ask for as far as the Bus service is concerned.

Do Taxi's/Buses run to and from the circuit and square throught Friday night etc.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Neil.

Taxis are the way to go... you can usually get a phone number from any of the public phone boothes, and simply call them an hour before you need the cab.... we do this every year to get into town for the Friday night festivities.... getting home is more of a mystery.... we all always seem to get back to the campsites by Taxi but I can't honestly say how and where we find them.... it's one of life's miracles that as long as you drink enough (i.e. too much) alcohol, then somehow you'll end up safely tucked up in bed (or sleeping bag) the next morning.... albeit with abit of a headache!

Tony didn't drinking loads bringing it back in public then falling asleep by a bank machine work for you last year?
It's true what Tony says. For the last 15odd years we seem to first spend a couple of hours waiting for the taxi to pick us up from the camp site. Get into the central square (well worth the effort) drink loads and all eventually arrive back (usually alone or in pairs) at the camp site. Although last year one of our number managed to set a new record by getting back around 9 the next day after waking up on a hospital stretcher without shoes wallet or mobile phone and having to thumb a lift back!!!

I heard that there are free buses from the main entrance (of the circuit) to the town centre during the weekend. Anyone know any more about this or if its actually true?

we were camped at expo last year (as usual)
at about 2 am 3 of our group startedc walking back and after about 15 mins jumped into a passing taxi with a driver that didnt speak any English or slightly un nerving any French but we managed to get him to drop us off near tetre rouge and then we walked to Houx and met up with the TVR party in full swing.. the other two wandered back and i stayed till about 5am with bruce smith pouring whisky and beer down my neck..

i then wanderd back to expo throught the track and the fair,( which was still going)visited the dodgey strip joint via another bar eventually ariving at the tour bus at about 6:30 only to find i couldnt remember how to operated the key code onm the door never mind remembering the number. si i ended up sleeping for a few hour on two plastic chairs under a bit of sacking !!!!!!

one thing to watch with the taxis back is make sure you agree a price when you get in, dont get one alone and be prepared to leg it at some point if they get larey i think a lot of them are unlicenced imigrants...
