finally got round to booking my tickets for le mans today, i know its a bit late but i joined the ACO and affter faffing around with the membership application i finally got my membership card the other day.
basically i ring their english speaking line and ask to book tickets, the girl on the other end says 'the ticket office is closed for lunch can i ring back in an hour?'
so about 1hr15 later i phone back, ask again to book tickets, get sent to the ticket office and ask to book 6 of them, so the girl tells me i can only book tickets by e-mail, post or fax... so she tells me the e-mail address is "tickets@lemans.org"
so i merrily send my e-mail to the above address asking to book 6 tickets, a little while later i get a message saying that the e-mail address is not recognised!!!
so i go to the ACO website and find out the e-mail address is for TICKETS is "ticket@lemans.org"
so i re-send my message to their new address
basically this has taken me all morning, net result: no tickets yet booked and the day is wasted... if i get a reply from the ACO (highly doubtfull) today, i wont be able to do anything about it until tommorrow because they still need to contact me for my payment details...
why can't they just have a number i can phone, or an online booking service!?!

If you became a member to benefit from the breakdown cover (thier main business) whilst in France forget it. Thier faffing about now will in seem like a well oiled machine compared to the service you get if you actually break down and need thier assistance.
I speak from bitter experience.

just 6 entrance tickets, but the ACO ones that allow you in the paddock/ACO bar, not just normal "admission general" or whatever they're called...
i was warned about their "service" but perhaps i didn't pay enough attention to my warnings!!! - its probably gonna cost us a great deal more having to buy all our camping/ferry/entrance tickets seperately than getting an all-in-1 package...
the ACO is even worse than donington who i phoned for tickets to the FIA GT race last year, they charged me the 10% or whatever phone booking charge then made me collect the tickets from the circuit FFS!!!
hmm, perhaps it was a mistake to join the ACO...
luckily i also have full european AA cover, so hopefully i wont have to use the ACO

You can get into the ACO bar behing the village just by showing your Membership card (friends will have to sign in and pay).
You also get a great presentation pack (however, your friends will not be able to get this).
As far as I know, you cannot get into the pits during race day at all, although on Friday you can walk along the pits with everyone else.
I left if it too late for parking, so I am goiugnt o get a good car parkign spot and sleep in the car (I do this anyway, so I won't bother to camp)...
