We were surprised to see the toll booths gone this year. Initially thought it must be free but then checked and we had a toll to pay on line.

It’s worth checking if you have a toll fee to pay. I think you get 72 hours to pay.

It’s a long road - thought Rouen to A28 bit was always toll free and toll booth free?

After passing through Rouen, we would always take the A13 and then N154 toward Evreux, this was always a toll route and still is.

This year though the booths are gone and unless your French is good enough to read the signs, you might not know that you need to pay online.

So can they read the tags at speed now.

Most if the 30kph lanes have gone I thought and currently have to stop within a couple of metres to activate barriers.

I can't work out if it's the tag thing I have for the motorways and it gets added to your account or if there is another badge you need to have?

Same tag, added to your account as normal. Tag will beep just as if you went through a barrier or
30kph lane
RL17…Yes…the new gantries can read at speed!

Have they finished that massive new bridge in Rouen yet or not?

The route through Rouen was really quick, al the roadworks the other side of the bridge finished and the bridge (assuming you mean the lifting one) open.

If you're on UK plates can they chase you for the money? By chase I mean administratively, not literally!

Not quite but it’s not far off being done and is a serious structure… the French are rather good at bridges (if this one has been a tad glacial)

Did see something on a Carp fishing site when I searched and they said you could be chased and sent demands in UK

A13 is now basically like the Dartford toll
It will look for a “ bip and go” tag - if you have one it will send out the usual beeeeeeep.
If you don’t, the cameras will record your number plate
You then have 24/48 hours to pay online

There are signs in English along the route to say this as well as the French ones

Which is why I have a bip&go- saves effort and faffing at toll booths , especially when towing my caravan to the south each year
