Accomodation 2025
Discussion
Hi all, hopefully heading to LM25. I've done LM a fair few times over the years, in a Tent, local B&B, self-drive Motorhome and Chateaux. I would like to do something comfortable for my 50th year next year! What are the best options for on-circuit accommodation, i see LM do an official glamping offer which is pretty lumpy on price, but what other options are there on the circuit and do any fellow PHers have first-hand experience/recommendations of recent trips?
Cheers

Lycian do glamping tents - inside track at start of Porsche curves - beer tent and marquee very close to track and a minute or two from banking view
A little way from village and most stands

Might depend on how you define best. Empire RV mention Le Mans on their website. Imagine it's pretty comfortable. You would hope so for the £££s.
Well, i think comfort! I did email Empire and yes, as you say, very comfortable and very expensive. Travel Destinations pods look like a good option too.Funnily enough, I was reading through your road trip in the 991 as it's similar to what I hoped to do next year. I was also considering getting a 991 in the not-too-distant future, have you got over your reliability issues and are you enjoying ownership since your challenging road trip!?

Did Empire RV mention where they would be for Le Mans? There were quite a few big US style RVs in Maison Blanche a few years back, maybe in the 2015-2019 timeframe, and then, IIRC they didn't show one year. Assume they park up somewhere else.Funnily enough, I was reading through your road trip in the 991 as it's similar to what I hoped to do next year. Oh yeah, the 991.2 and the Pyrenees/LM trip... yeah thankfully the car was fixed up, back on the road, and then made it to the Vosges / Swiss Alps. That was a great trip. Pretty quiet over the winter. Had an absolutely spectacular long weekend in the Highlands earlier this year. Was due to be in the Vercors for a long weekend too but didn't make it due to Covid. So far, fingers crossed, no issues to report. The 8 year major service is being done right now; again, fingers crossed, the service doesn't find any issues. We're then due to be back in Spain with a drive across to Portugal later this year.
991 - first gen? second gen? GTS? Another variant?
They are great cars for a lot of the trips we tend to do. Lengthy slog drive to the mountains, so you want the comfort to cruise, and then once you're there you want the performance at altitude. A good day in the mountains is arguably as punishing as a track day. Maybe even more so considering you sometimes drive a longer stint in the mountains than you would do on a circuit.

They didn't, but as only 2 of us are travelling the cost pp is bonkers. You are looking at 8K for a 4/6-berth wagon. And that's the cheap one.DangerDoom said:

My budget as it stands sits me either in the 991 1st gen category (lower mileage, well cared for) or 2nd gen with higher mileage. I haven't looked into it an awful lot so not sure what the pros and cons of each would be. I would happily sit in any of them but a preference would be a GTS or Cab.
