Good evening all,

After a great Le Mans weekend and a few days in the Loire Valley around Saumur my car had trouble starting today and after a few minutes I got it started but with the EPC error on the dash. While on the motorway it started juddering and after a drop in speed all was well again. I had a code reader in the car so checked and it’s throwing up a crank shaft sensor error. I know a few people on here are based near Le Mans so after a recommendation for a garage who might be able to diagnose and get the parts. Car is a Mk1 Audi TT. We are currently 1 hr south of Le Mans with the car parked up. Any help would be most appreciated as due back in the UK Thursday evening.

I broke down last Wednesday on the way into the circuit (VW Caddy, diesel injector. Again...) and was recovered to ABP72 who are on:

6 Rue Pierre Martin - 72000 - Le Mans 02 43 75 50 32 abp72@outlook.fr

I'll admit I was sceptical at first, but utterly blown away by their work and customer service. The price was within €100 of what I last paid in the UK (which looking at the bill was probably the diagnostic fee required by the RAC Euro Breakdown) so they didn't gouge on price, which they could easily have done.

I'd have no hesitation in recommending them.

Where are you? There’s a garage in Le Lude, independent does a lot of classic stuff and modern I can recommend him but don’t know if he can fit you in at short notice.

Previous Range Rover was recovered here. Seemed good and flexible, even opening on. A Sunday for me to collect..

Hey leyorkie

We rang your chap this morning and he was very helpful but sadly too busy to fit us in and couldn’t get the part. Audi said the part would be 2 weeks and 8 days work which I find baffling as the sensor is a 10min job for someone with the tools and ramps etc. The local parts company we rang said we need to take to a mechanic and bring the part in even though I have my chassis number etc. At a bit of a loss now to be honest

What’s the part? There are some internet suppliers that could be quicker

My friend owns a garage in Cholet but lives in Vihiers and has a tow truck if you're not sorted yet?

Crank shaft sensor. The mechanic gave us a company to contact but they just said we’d need to take the part off and bring to the shop so they can order. Crazy really. Thanks guys but going to take a chance and head back to Calais tomorrow and just hope we can limp it home.

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone that replied. Pistonheads to the rescue again.

We made it back home safely after the car broke down on the train and then decided to restart an hour later whilst waiting for the RAC. Off to the garage now to run some diagnostics.
